Adventurer's Impatience

The pungent odor of salty, fishy air caused her to wrinkle her nose in disgust as a sudden gust of ocean breeze hit her fully. She had never thought much of the harbor and now she was reminded of why. With a heavy sigh, the young elfess looked to her right as she walked down the boards of the dock, her pale green eyes trailing over the different boats moored and bustling with activity. To tell the truth, Arasinya didn't know which one she was supposed to be on. She had never been about the port towns much, and now that she was thrown into the hustle of any busy trade point, she was a bit left behind. Coming to a stop beside one boat hustling with crew members, she silently studied the activities. It was only when one member spotted her and asked what she was doing there did Arasinya remember why she had stopped in the first place. Offering the human man a thin, wry smile, she spoke in a lofty manner.

"I was simply curious as to which of these many boats will be porting at Gobiath?"

The rough, young man threw a pointed finger to a small boat a bit further down the dock before turning and continuing his labor. With a short nod, the elfess scurried down the dock towards the boat. After a short word with the captain, Arasinya clambered on board, the haughty air about her dissapating with the thought of finally getting to go about her own on an unspeakable adventure.

Too bad the thought of adventure once she hit shore couldn't drown out the sudden lull that came over her. It had been a while, now, since they had set sail and the pure monotony of the ride was wearing thin on the restless young elfess. It was as if they could not get to the island fast enough for her. They should be arriving on the island any time now, right? Sure, it had been a whole two.. three days, but she was ready to get away from that place she had called home for so long now. With a quiet sound of annoyance, the elfess hurries up the ladder from below deck, wandering slowly to the port side of the boat. The slow rocking motions of the boat as it pushed through the waves gave her a strange, elated feeling. Crossing her arms as she leans against the edge of the boat's railing, nose wrinkling as the salty air becomes so apparent that she could taste it in her mouth. But the cold breeze of the ocean's winter gave her a refreshed, free feeling, even as it set shivers running up her arms. Licking her lips, the elfess reached about her to draw the fluttering cloak about her to block off some of the cold. It was then that a shout went up, telling of land to the starboard side. Blinking, the elfess turns about, her bright green eyes flicking over the sliver of forested land coming into sight as the boat begins turning. A wry smile sets upon her lips as she hurries to the other side, dodging in and out of the few crewmembers. She seemed more like a tiny child on their first adventure away from the house. In a sense, that was what this was. Arasinya had been so ready to leave her old island, finding herself undoubtedly restless. She had waited so long for some freedom and finally it was becoming reality.

It was a while longer before the ship finally came to settle at the harbour of Gobiath. With an excited expression, the elfess moved about, waiting for permission to disembark onto the dock. When it was given, Arasinya didn't even hesitate, clambering down onto the dock. With a widening smile, the normally arrogant, proud air of the elfess diminishes completely, pure happiness on her face as she lets her eyes rake over what she could see of the island, which wasn't much. What she planned to find here, she had not a clue. But she had heard traders talk of Gobiath, of its chaos, dangers, and people. It had intrigued her, and as that restless feeling of every elf set in, she knew precisely where she would go. And now, she was finally here. Taking a moment to gather the sparse things she had, the young elfess gave a brief, questioning look to the captain of the ship, who smiled lightly and pointed a hand before him. As he pointed to the right and then to the left, he spoke.

"Follow the trail to the right, you'll reach the main town, Troll's Bane. Follow it to the left and you'll come upon the farming village, Greenbriar. I suggest 'Bane' first, however."

Arasinya nods shortly before mumbling a quick thanks, setting off hurriedly towards the town of Troll's Bane. As she walked down the path, she felt nothing but pure excitement. Finally a bit of restless freedom!
