It would be nice if my char would actually attack faster with leathers when using daggers then with steel. He attacks about twice as slow with leathers.

I think that leathers should not give a minus at magic skills

Assuming nothing has changed, one ring has a malus on magic, two are not giving anything (+/-0) and the rest offers various bonus points.

I see no problem there.

I just see the problem that some items with a high "felt" value are totally useless or even harming.

But on leather, I agree that the magic mali are not the best idea. In special because robes and other non-leather-clothes don't grant magical boni.

You know how I think about magic boni on clothes. ;)

Nothing should actually give you a magic bonus unless "enchanted" by priest/bard/magician/[your profession here].
On the other hand, I want to see plenty items giving you a magic malus including leather armor.

To say it with the words of another famous game:
"Mages are a cloth-class."

In the illarion magic "guide" only metal keeps the mana from flowing trough the body of the caster.. how is leather metal?

Its the skin of a dead animal, it makes Oldra and Ushara sad and they keep the Spice ... erm, ... Mana from flowing.

Satisfied?

hardly.. you can't put whatever effects you want on what doesn't apply.. leather, wood, [insert non metal obj] should NOT block magic

Excerpt from said Magic guide:
Mages may not wear armour, as it prevents you from absorbing the mana.
This can be interpreted in either way.

Indeed, very vague.. All mages IG teach that a mage should not wear metal items, leather has no logical sense in blocking magic.

On the other hand, I agree upon giving magic bony through enchantment

i saw, leather attack faster then most metal armor. but mages need cloth. if mages don't need cloth armor then there really is NO market for the items. i swear everyone just walks around wearing their armor or naked and simply role plays clothes. even with mages needing cloth i don't think it would help the market that much. not till paper dolling.

No, leather too. That's why some mages don't even wear shoes.

The reason you don't know this is cos you got magic too quickly with not enough theory lessons.

The reason you were told specifically no METAL armour is because when you cast with metal armour your spells come back and pwn you; leather just weakens them, and so it isn't as bad for your magic. If you want to weaken your magic and raise your defense, go ahead; but I'll never wear anything but cloth ;)

I said how it should be, not how it is.. I know that curently leather weakens magic, and you were IG told this because it was a mere adaptment of the teacher at the situation (i guess).
And no, metal does not reflect your spells, just uber weakens them :P
