The Bow of Baldurain

Greetings, recently I've been reading a bit more history and myths than I usually would. I've done most of this in search for ideas to make a more effective, and stronger guild. Anyway, to the point I recently discovered a tale or a mighty artifact. Here is a transription of what I discovered;

      The Bow of Baldurain

Many seasons ago, In a land many months journey away, a fine elvin city lay. At the peak of its existence it had wonderous hanging gardens, massive towers, and many beautiful structures.
Sadly few men ever traveled to this wonderous place. Most descriptions are based on the tales or travellers priviliged enough to reach this place.
This city was not without enemies however. The drow who lived in the underground regions grew angry at the splendor of the city and planned to burn it to the forest ground. You see the drow had a great hatred for anything elvin. Many have theorized it is the elves ability to travel to anywhere they please that angered the drow so.
Soon message reached the great city and it prepared to defend itself. An elf whose name has been lost in time was said to have spent his lifes earnings on a single weapon to defend his homeland. It's name was the bow of Baldurain. Baldurain being the name of the city.
The bow was crafted by the finest elvin workers and made with the finest materials. Finally several of the more powerful mages enchanted it.
As you may have guessed a single bow no matter how powerful could not change the tide of battle. The bow is said to have slain manyt drow but the town soon fell and the wielder of the bow fell as well. A nearby elvin commander is said to have picked it up and fled with the survivors.
They crossed many seas and travelled for many months. Eventually landing on the southern tip of it. They hid the bow here and continued on after discovering the many perils. This island was supposedly our fine home of Illarion.
To this day no one has found any trace of the great bow.

It is my theory that this bow does lie on the island. I strongly believe that we should locate the bow so that it would not fall into the hands of the many evil entities that live here. It could hopefully also be used to stop our enemies. Such as drahken and Askatuul.

Ah, good news!

Korwin, you did good work. I've heard about that bow, too. The bow would be a strong weapon against the evil who seems to get stronger every day.

Hopefully, we're able to find the bow before it's to late. I'll propose to search near the ruins south and north of our town, first. Propably the settlers used them as an hiding place.

I am presently looking for volunteers to aid in the search. I'm afraid I can't pay anyone anything. If you still wish to assist in the search give some indication.

Grettings!

Of course I'd like to help you! We need that bow! But, I'm afraid I can't help you right now. It seems that a black magician is planning something terrible. Me and my people have to stop him, before it's to late.

I'm sure, I'll have time to come with you in the next few days when I did all the organisation of our mission to stop that evil magician.

I'll contact you again, as soon as possible!

Yours, Didelus

No need to worry Korwin I and maybe some other Ranger can assist in your quest for this Bow. But I think that once it is found it should not be used by us or any other group, it should be distroyed as soon as it is found!

Alright seems as if we have 5 people willing to help in the search.
  • Korwin
  • Didelus
  • Dark Elf James
  • Roke
  • Inioch Hope
I suggest we begin the search in and around the mummy ruins as Didelus said. Then perhapes move on to several shrines Dark Elf James has located.

August 20

I have begun my search for the bow of Baldurain. I've been lucky enough to find several people to help me. We've decided to start around the ruins inhabited by mummies. They are a bit of a problem at the moment it seems. As soon as you make some progress the mummies trample it. Hopefully we can find some way around it. My digging has started around the north-east end of the ruins. I've been able to avoid the pesky mummies outside but I will need to go inside eventually. I have found nothing but dust and dirt...

The bow must be distroyed at all costs. We will find it first and deal with but if you do happen to find it first I would seggest you give it to us. If need be I will will distroy you along with the bow but lets hope that doesn't happen.

Why do you want to destroy it so badly?
It isn't an evil bow, and we can trust Korwin with it...

Greetings, Korwin!

I've got very bad news: I have to leave Illarion for a long time and so I can't help you with your search. I hope you, James, Roke and Inioch Hope will be able to find that bow without me.

I'm very sorry, to let you down, but I've got no choice....

I'll hope, we'll meet again someday....

Yours, Didelus
