[RECONSIDER] Suggestion; Lockpicking.

Lockpicking!

Huzzah. I'm sure it'd be easy to do.
(For Germans, lockpicking means: using a tool to unlock a door/chest/etc..)

Tools wouldn't be obtainable anywhere, (smith could make them, sure.) But for instance, Eliza wouldn't sell them, etc.. They'd be illegal instruments.

They would break easily, and would require quite high skills to actually manage to open a door, and still, there would be a x chances/on y factor.

Good idea?

what for?

there are no movable valuables in the houses.
that would be fine, if we had personal boxes beside the depots.
and if players could lock down things in their houses.

No.

1. We ( the Developers ) have currently alot of other things to do.
2. This was proposed a plenty of times. Why do someone has to propose it again and again. We know that this proposal exsits.
3. Hard to write ( many doors have to be un-unlockable ( Questdoors ) )
4. Hard to balance. I don't like so see some powergamers running around unlocking every door they see.

 Only suitable for quest related locks or parts of static dungeons. Lockpicking of doors of char owned buildings is beyond any discussion.

Would be fun even to be able to get in.
Personal boxes would be great, but people would only use the deot instead then I supose:/.
How about items dont rot in houses? Would make it much safer to trade too hehe.

1Hm, if one only was able to try to unlock each door every rl week?
2And some doors was not posible to open (questdoors)?
3The skill was very hard to obtain
4The programmers had more time? hehe

But doesen't this unbalance the thief system, or what measures can be taken to re-balance the thief system? After all if someone can just store their belongings in a house it makes thievery pointless

There won't be a thief system any time soon, sorry. It seems rather pointless to discuss whether it would be balanced or not. :?

No offence, but players come and go. Players are not involved in what has been proposed to the Staff and what not.

Concerning the topic: Lockpick would be indeed very difficult to balance.

It is such an obvious proposal that one has to believe that we're rather stupid to not have thought about that hundreds of times already.

This is clearly not an "Any time soon" proposal to begin with, its a proposal for possible future implementation.
