Kurga's Death

~This story is narrated from third person from witness accounts, as Kurga is now dead, her body burned and mangled on the floor of the Orc Cave~
Recieving a note from Zub Agor about needing keys, but then Zub's challenge to her as Chiefess, Kurga made her way from the Grey Rose, crossing treacherous mountain passes through Silverbrand, then across the desert to the Orc Cave where Zub was awaiting her. He had asked to have her keys in her belt. What did this mean? She wondered as she crossed the rocky terrain. She never kept keys on her as she has instructed all of her Orcs, why start now?
As she entered the tunnel to the cave, a wave of anxiety overcame her. It was quiet. She was to fight a friend, comrade in arms from the Southern Woods, and the newest member to swear the holy Bloodoath. She was not looking forward to this but knew discipline must be maintained for the Clan to survive. It was a matter of Honor.
As she descended the ladder to the cave, she overheard voices behind the door. They were not Orcish. Carefully she advanced and listened.
Zub was telling some others to stay in a room. That when she came out, they wuld jump out and surround her. Despair finally crept into Kurga. How could this happen? How could a friend, even a newly sworn Bloodskull have betrayed her? Not only to her, but the Bloodskull Clan as a whole.
As she pondered her decision of action, the voices behind the door grew silent as the put themselves into a room, obviously the Temple to the five Gods, as that was the only room close enough. Insult upon insult! Strangers in the Temple!
She had just talked to Julia the other night about the way an Orc both lives and dies. How a good death is just as important as a good life. For what is the Sum of life if not in a good death to add it all together. If an Orc had Honor in life, they would have Honor in Death. Glory is fleeting in life, but in Death, the Gods bestoy it forever!
She then decided, at that moment, with betrayal in the Clan, Infidels in the Temple, War with the Dwarves....It was a good Day to Die!
Slowly she unlocked the door to the cave, and opened the door. As she slowly entered, she saw Zub, standing by the Temple door as if nothing was happening. With a smirk on his face, he shouted "Now!" and stepped aside as two humans and an elf rushed from the room to attack Kurga.
With a small smile and a tilt of her head, she lit the Molotov Cocktail, gently sat it down at her feet, drew her swords and charged the treacherous Zub, totally ignoring the others. With tears in her eyes and fire in her Heart, she Roared as fiercely as ever, as if the Very Chiefs of Old were crying out for vengence! The Molotov exploded, and she fought valiantly, but she was outnumbered. With a final thrust of Zub's sword, she lay crumpled at their feet. All hopes and dreams of a united Orc Clan, able to live with dignity and peace with others had been smashed.
The carrions search the body and bag for signs of the precious keys she had, but nothing was found but a few herbs and cheap magickal swords. Kurga's Spirit Laughed at them from the "Great Hall" where her image will remain, always ready to uphold precious Honor, the only thing worth living for.
The great Horde of the Orcs lay safe, tucked away in a secret place. For only a day before, Red Skull Gabon was ambushed in Trollsbane, and the thieves stole his key. Kurga knew that the Cave would soon be teeming with dwarves intent upon her death and had spent that night hiding the Orcen treasure, including the Keys. Only Gabon would know where it was hidden when the Black falcon finally arrives, carrying a note sent that evening, but now comes from beyond the Grave.
Satisfied, Kurga's spirit turned from Earthly matters towards a bright and Glorious light, shining from the Clouds. "Come Kurga", a voice said, "Join our Clan". Then Kurga's heart was lifted, lifted indescribably to eternal Honor and Glory!
