Golem-3 hours+100 copper=WHAT A JOKE!

My oh my...The stupidity. Surely many can sympothise with my views on this topic, the fact that one spends 3 bloody hours attacking 1 Golem and finally when it dies, turning both my two handed swords rusty only revealed 100 copper in its death....FOR F**k SAKE I COULD HAVE JUST WENT TO THE SKELETONS AND EARNED THAT IN 30 MINUTES!! Surely a cuple of silver wouldn't go a miss for slaying a massive rock creature that takes 3 hours to kill and only 2 minutes to kill you...

This my friends is the very definition of taking the absolute p**S

We had this descussion allready it seems you had just bad luck, because last time I checked the golem gave you 5 silver, just like skellies give you 30 once and then 6 copper, just bad luck maybe, but maybe you should use another weapon instead of swords.

We ran across quite a few, at least 2 out of 3 only gave about 100 copper. Not enough to divide very well if quite a few fight one.

and maybe you should fight with a bigger group, or even the support of a mage who casts healing. the golems are not meant to be defeated easily by everyone. You need a good trained group and the right support. and of course the right weapon.

and after all...why would a golem carry money? :?

Every third defeated golem, or even second, drops 5 silver and a diamond.

That is good enough if you use the right tactic and group.

of course it wont be usefull if you fight alone. let me guess, you walked to the golem, start attacking, ran away when you got damaged too much, healed the lost hp, walked back, attacked again, run again away, healed again, attacked again, and so on?

if yes, dont forget that the golem heals hp too while you don't attack it.

Agreed

Maybe diamonds, or gold or something precious..

Either way, a golem would be used to defend SOMETHING... so maybe that would contain cash :)

Yes, it is quite tragic when you hack a golem for 3 hours and only get 100 copper but it is also tragic when you fail at making items out of hard to find raw material too, you just have to live with it and learn. My character Eli has had plenty of encounters with these Golems, atleast 10 or so. As Sam has stated with the proper group they can be disposed of, and rather quickly in relation to 3 hours. My groups were lucky, we had about 4 or 5 of the golems drop 5 silver. And as you said
I COULD HAVE JUST WENT TO THE SKELETONS AND EARNED THAT IN 30 MINUTES!!
Your statement is true, perhaps this thread will help you more:

This is what one could truely call a powergaming discussion.

"Oh no, the monster again only dropped 20 coins! I am depressed!" This is not D&D dungeoncrawling. Ever thought about why Golems and Skeletons should drop coins AT ALL? Golems should drop stones. More difficult creatures are not made for people with uber skills to get rich, but to make a certain difficulty possible, because some even don't get hurt by normal skeletons at all anymore.

Golems are one of the high level npc's that exceed player chars to the extreme, meaning its a group needed npc.

Its based on roleplay and team work, making fun for everyone. Not for you to wedge between a tree and hit it with your two handed sword for 30 mins, or run behind it when your health gets low to heal and then attack it more 50 times.

I dont know how much effort it would take, but i dont see it wrong that a golem could carry raw silver that could be smithed into silver coins

I'd be highly surprised if it was 3 hours on one golem; what, was he paralysed or something?

-.-

Lemme guess, it was actually two minutes. Otherwise I guess you either abused a bug by attacking him round an object he was stuck on with a long blade, or stood there using health potions, which sucks. And who the hell would have the attention span to fight one golem for 3 hours? Take up a fawking craft if you're that desperate, it'll be 20x as profitable

Golems can be killed in less than 3 hours.

I will have a look at the drops, anyway.

Golems in 3 hours? What the heck did you use? A club? lol
Anyway, it really should drop some more stuff.. maybe ores?

I think maybe we should discuss trapping monsters, if its cheating or not. It would take an unsurmountable potions to kill a golem over 3 hours, 2 handed swords? This complaint is really laughable, I mean why should a sword even hurt a golem at all? No person who owns a nice set of cutting knives would use them on stone counters, they dull.

Maybe he used a lightsaber. ((sorry for spam, I had to say it haha))
Imho, a golem should take dmg only from blunt weapons.

Estralis, the drop of golems got already checked by the staff before after it first dropped 30 silvercoins, which was far too much. The staff set it then to 5 silvercoins.

Golems are out-of-system currently. All other monsters drop 16 different items (times 5 kinds of monsters for each race), golems only 4. Also, there is no random in the amount of coins. It is a quick solution, a fitting yet unsatisfying one.

The monster drops will be updated. Only minor changes will be done, most changes will be done on skeletons (unbalanced), ogres (unbalanced) and now golems (out of system). If you have suggestions, contact me!

Perhaps you should train with your weapon before you use it, and make sure it's not a two handed sword as they suck big style...
Sitting for 3 hours is a bit dim dont you think? My character Deuce and Werner slayed a golem together (that someone must've lead to the town) in less than 5 minutes so all i can say to you is more practice on less powerful creatures, and try using an effective weapon like duel weilding longswords or summit', and ofcourse as everyone else is saying attack them in a small group/duo.

charging with a rapier?

A better solution would be blunt weapons get a bonus.

Blunt weapons already get a bonus against a number of npcs.. skeletons.. Golems.. flies.. and more.
