Suggestion

When i kill mummies, they often drop many items made of metal, though most of these items are useless. I think it would be really cool if we could melt these items down and get the raw material to make iron sheets and ingots.

the idea has been discussed before. while it would be nice, i don't think the idea ever took flight. probably would require alot of scripting

Its actually a good idea, i like it. In UO you can dismantle almost any item for at least one of each of the materials used....
