Hi...new here. Does your character age, and how fast does it take to age 1 year if so? I'm talking about the stat when you look at your account on the website. Do alot of people here roleplay their character aging? Thanks in advance.

1RL Day = 3 Illarion Days.
so 4 RL months = 1 Illarion year
Calender can be found here
I think at the moment the characters aren´t effected by their age. So aging isn´t necessary, but it can be RP'd of course.

My char was originally 14 but is now 19, although on the webpage it still shows him as 14.

Characters DO age, unless they are undeads or something like that, any characters will get older 3x faster than real life speed (meaning they have a birthday each 4 RL months). Ignoring that fact is just bad RP, if you want to have a character that looks young forever, then take an elf, if you wanna play a human you have to accept the character will noticeably get older after time.

hm I wouldn´t label this as bad RP. Just imagine everyone would RP his/her char´s birthday...there would be nearly every week one to celebrate. Funny indeed but too much gifts to buy
There are much worse things to be claimed bad RP. One can be a very good roleplayer without celebrating a birthday IG.

I was thinking about starting an older character actually, but it would be more more believable (and fun) in RP terms to start out a little younger and RP as he ages.

...
You dont need to RP the birthdays.
You just need to accept the characters gets older.
Some characters dont even know when their birthday is.
My characters all get older, but I never celebrated any birthday either
PS : Personally, someone making so that their character always stay at the same exact age while he knows it isnt this way, is making horrible RP for me.

Well some characters will never act there age anyway no matter how old they are, Just like adults in rl. So i never let age bother me. the Illar year has always seemed way to quick to me anyway. your dead soon if you aren't playing an elf so alot of people seem to simply play a day as a day or at most 2:1 from what i notice

Assuming you start a character at the age of 20.
Further assuming your character will die because of his old age when he reaches 60.
You'd have to play 13 (real) years to see that happen.

true but the common human also becomes elderly. they don't look or act twenty when there fourty, since they aren't elves after all. playing to your age means playing phyiscal aliments due to age as well.

I play my characters as if they were aging. Though it doesn't matter with my Ranger, expecially since he has forgotten his birthday. Personally I think it would be funny if Dan left at some point, came back a few years later, completely forgoten. Then goes and beats up stupid pages at the age of 65.
"Weak old man!"
*SLASH!*
"AAAAAHHH!" *Runs*

If you play your character the next 15 RL years, you may get him to this age, Dantagon.

Those long time players are never bad
May in the future its possible to add a birthday date to your character so it ages automatically. Maybe. ( and dies later

seriously, that might be a good idea.
ageing chars.
if the program can handle it, there would be a couple of of interesting possibilities.
imagine fighters, whose skills still raise, while their strength and constitution goes down by age...
...or mages, who get more and more powerfull over the years, till old age makes them forget, which spell they wanted to cast....
but it would be the end of eternal, youthfull heroes.

Then you could have rejuvinating potions, spells et cetera, list endless
Const and strenght go down
Intelligence goes up though (Seen more, and knows more) since we have no wisdom.

bloody nonsense if you think
A character that start at the age of 20 needs to be played 15 RL years active to get him to the age of 65.
Who of you played a character for that time?
Nitram

How long is "from the very beginning on"?
Do you mean just one character?
