NPC triggers..

Excuse me, but I don't seem to manage Sam (The NPC at the castle north of the main town) to tell me how much he pays for threadbare leather shoes..
Could someone please tell me what to tell him?
(This thread could also be used for all NPC Trigger related inquiries...)

Thanks, I did try. It said: "What do you pay for <item>"
I tried:
What do you pay for leather shoes
What do you pay for threadbare leather shoes
Etc..
None worked.

Oh and he might not by them. Say "What do you buy?" to check.

Yes, I did put a question mark.
And I sold him one for two copper pieces, I mean a pair.
Which I wouldn't have done if I knew he bought them so cheap

I have noticed that no npc's will tell you what they pay for things anymore.. or at least I too have the same problem.

I think they buy for 5-10%(Average being around 7%) of the price they sell.
