Disappearing items when going to spin?

I just went to spin some cloth from wool balls. I spun the wool into yarn with no trouble. However, when I went to put the yarn into my hand to spin it into cloth, the axe in my other hand disappeared. I tried afterwards with a single copper, but that didn't disappear. Any ideas what happened?

This is a quite known bug, it happens, noone but some developers may really know why.
Some mistake in the script.

while spinning you should only have wool in your hands, nothing else ... happens from time to time that items disappear, yes
