Generally speaking, when an application is ported to the Mac platform, it works. OS X is also UNIX-based, so there are a copious amount of tools for developers and power-users that were trivial to port from other OSes (*cough* linux *cough*).

However, you are quite wrong in saying that they are 'never the same'. Illarion, for example, is *exacty* the same, be it running on Windows, Linux, or OS X. The problem Wyrda is having is not exclusive to the Mac platform - his version of Java is old, and the Illarion client requires a newer version. (Saldy, Apple abandoned the version of OS X he is using, so his options are either upgrade his OS or wait and see if someone ports a newer JRE to an older OS X when Sun finishes open-sourcing Java. But that's a political issue; not a software one.)

I don't mean to sound flamey or anything; you just touched a nerve and I thought it prudent to set the record straight.

Wyrda... this is now what, the THIRD topic you have posted about the exact same problem?

Stop it. We gave you the contact info of the person most familiar with Macs and Illarion/Mac issues here. If you need help with a Mac issue he can't help you with, you're going to have to look elsewhere. Sorry.

Nevas, thank you for your summary of the facts.

I have removed useless comments like "sell your mac". This is a support forum.
