Alternatives to reporting unprovoked player kills

My first day out I was walking along the water near the eastern woods and was attacked by three Someones who all texted "Someone [10-digit number] mumbles a mystical formula," and killed me. There was no approach, no dialogue, just action yellow text and dead. I kept trying to get away but they kept attacking.

So here's my question. I don't want to avoid this area altogether because of these guys, but I don't really feel reporting on them is necessary, especially if it's not a regular occurrence. I thought about cautioning them in text if they try it again, but I was wondering what other people do in situations like this.

Odd question, no wonder no one respond it yet. Forget the "new" thing, people don't care much like used to.

I hate people keep talking bad RP, that is probably got you confused.
First of all, there are no NPC bandits live Eastern Woods that is if you sure it's Eastern Woods. If by any chance someone lured them there and you have show char name mode on, there will not be any text appear above them until they use magic. Then yellow text appeared as yoy said.

If players' characters attacked, they will generally say something. Like "Give me money or die!" They are expected to RP with you because killing is very big deal in-game. Like use yellow text to explain their action.

Last, reporting GM takes a long time sometimes. You may report if you see some rule breaking. However, consider lucky if they speak back to you. If not, it means one of two things: Either they are very busy or they think you make a big deal out of nothing.

I'm reasonably certain that those were magic-using NPCs you encountered. I believe they're scripted to display that casting message.

Simply, there are very few player characters that actually have magic that could kill someone, and I have immense faith that they wouldn't all get together in the woods to kill new players.

Much appreciated. I wasn't aware that NPC's had 10-digit player numbers.

npcs do not have numbers, just gm-npcs or questchars etc

if you've got your log, then you could report these guys
this is what i would do

NPCs which use magic have numbers. Always when they speak a spell you can read......[10-digit number] mumbles a mystical formula..

Only if you also see a number over their head, then they are player chars.

Next time send me a pm, the best with charname or -number and I'll have a look soon.

Every character, npc and monster has a id.

But only those of the characters are visible.

Marwa got attacked and killed by a monster that was able to cast magic. To identify such a monster, i made them doing this emote. And you will see the monster as Someone(xxxxxxxxxx)

Ah, okay. Thanks. They definitely had numbers, but for all three the first 6 digits were the same. Hindsight being 20/20 and now with the knowledge that npc's can have visible numbers, makes sense.

Yeah. If you get clouded without rp by a mage, it's most definately an NPC. Any noob can ctrl and click you but only a good rp'er who's been playing a long time will have any commotio spells to cast on you, and they would certainly not randomly alt spell click you.

Well, watching some people at the academy I kinda doubt that Alex.
Though before getting a spell that actualy does any harm would take a while, yes.

They won't learn magic at the academy of green nearing yellow skills hopefully, or the mageiness in Gobaith will suck a lot.
