looting

ok I seen that people dont like to rp pick up items that would require you to be in plain sight ripping off dead bodies, so to make it fair how about a little message when you pick something up from a dead person it says "2342524 pick up an item from the dead body" or something of the sort.
what do yall think?

It's generally quite unfair to loot dead bodies while fighting a battle...and it's rather ridicioulus...did you ever try to pick up a whole plate armor, while being in a fight?

I agree but the it doesnt stop people from doing it. Perhaps we just need to stop the item drop from monsters in a huge quest so we dont have that problem.

But in a real situation there would always be people running around, stepping over dead bodies, just to get there hands on the loot. In that time period, people used to grave rob!

But not in the middle of a fight. You would be slain yourself while trying to rip the armor off a dead body or walk away with the hands full of stuff.

True, but do we really need yet another message to clutter up the screen with? In a big fight most people probably wouldn't even notice it anyway because of all the magic-spamming..

And I used to try to #me when picking up stuff, but no-one else did, so i never got to pick it up before someone else. And I agree it is bad rp if they are actually fighting against people whilst looting, but some chars just run around staying out of battle and looting. And I think that is absolutley fine.

well, this is more of a tehnical problem cos' if you let the stuff on the ground you risk them to rot away

(that doesn't happen in rl

)

A friend of mine who started playing about 2 weeks ago, was rather frustrated about, that her char fought in the battle against Negros, .. then died. And people picked up her stuff and were gone with it.
I understand it

you're fighting in a battle and then your own 'battle comrades' loot your body - though they are fighting for the same matter.

Small things (coins and the lyke) i beleive SHOULD be allowed to be looted. Armor would require you to spend a few minutes playing around with the corpse, so its not somethign someone would steal.
My two cents

Everybody for himself .. like in real life

shouldnt the armor be busted too from all that fighting. I mean you cant really kill somone uless you get through their armor anyways

What Gwen wants to say is, when you take the stuff of a fallen one and keep it you steal it. and you as a player should think twice if your char would steal, or not.
i saw often chars looting and keeping stuff from others who shouldnt do that, because stealing doesnt fit to the chars rp.

Unless you cleave , or bash their heads in/off.
In RL, if someone caught you looting one of your comrads, you'd probably get a sword through your head....
So, having said this, give us the opportunity to reanact this part of history....and #me it for us, so we can rip looter's heads off..
Thank you

Actually.. the way to kill knights in that time wasn't go get THROUGH thier armor. The armor was so heavy, that they just knocked the knights into their backs, and they couldn't get up. Then someone when round with a hammer and chisel, and lifted each knight's visor up, put the chisel onto his face, and BANG with the hammer. Dead knights aplenty.

Hammer? clisel?
I'd imagine they'd use a nice halberd to do that instead

I know that in RL someone may, or may not see the looting, in the thick of battle with a #me, it would be either seen or not as in life?

I loot, Stephen Loots, all because in real life armor doesnt disappear when it is on grass for more then 5 minutes. He holds it for people, but if no one comes around, he keeps it. It isn't his fault people don't listen to him when he tells them to fall back

hmmmm.....
I saw a movie once, I can't remember anything about it, except for during a war, a soldier got greedy and tried to loot something really heavy. He was then killed.
I see nothing wrong with looting, but I think it does deserve some #me's. If my armor broke, I would loot some other armor. Looting too far is taking plate armor off the ground with one hand, while you battle a demon with the other.

A little late but:
The pick-axe was designed to go through. smash it in their chest, and then not only do they have a cut, but the pick will press the armor into the cut, making it so the blood wouldflow out freely.
though I do find the chisel and hammer thing interesting. sounds like a peasant's job.
