Greenwich mean time. One of the most annoying things possible.

Right there's a post in the guild board where Dji's suggested GMT is at London; but I thought now we're at GMT+1 so I went on a site and found this:

In the European Union, Summer Time begins and ends at 1:00 a.m. Universal Time (Greenwich Mean Time). It begins the last Sunday in March and ends the last Sunday in October. In the EU, all time zones change at the same moment.

Which means we're at GMT+1 I think...

But then when the changeover happens; no doubt all the quests'll get screwed up because 50% of the people will forget it's changed so can someone please just sticky a topic with the current GMT's on because I'm officially confused.

If everyone just keeps working with the "old" everything will just be fine.

I've adjusted the time of the quest along with this time, in the believe that I'm in the GMT+2.
Now after the quest I was speaking to a player who lives in England and at 1 am, I ask him: "It's 11 pm for you now, right?"
And he replies with: "No, it's 12 pm"

and I was like: "Aren't you GMT?"
And he said, he is.

I knew I was right.

its time we make an illarion own time.

Illarion Server Time = IST

The ingame clock and a clock in the forum shows the time which is currently exactly there where the server stands.

if someone makes than a date for a meeting he uses that IST. Everyone who looks than at the forum clock can see how far he is away from IST, and can see much better when the meeting will be

GMT =/= The time that England has current.y


According to the website, they have British Summer Time now. That means that they are GMT +1
And CET = GMT+2

... but only til 29th october.
Then the British Summer Time is GMT again.

But England is at GMT+1.

I declare that starting October 29th, GMT will be scrapped and replaced for IST which is basically this except never goes back or forward.

Most definately not. This is highly confusing, as I would suddenly become "IST" while I am "IST+1". Seriously Alex, don't confuzzle the Illa population even more.

what the point behind my idea was is that we have a clock on the homepage for example which shows the IST. the illarion server time. and we use that clock for any dates. for example, we have IST 16:00. now i say i make tomorrow a meeting at 20:00 IST. everyone who wants now to now when that is looks at the clock on the page showing the current IST. for him IST 16:00 is 8 am, he knows now 20 IST is for him 12 pm.

he has no problem with any +1 or -1 counting, summer or winter time. he simply looks at the IST and compares with his own current time

GMT doesn't change either...

GMT is 11:22

Britain is on daylight saving and thus GMT+1

Britain is 12:22

France is on daylight saving to and thus GMT+2

France is 13:22

Germany is also on daylight saving and thus GMT+3

Germany is 14:22


All three countires change daylight saving at the same time therefore after 29th October.

Britain is GMT + 0

France is GMT + 1

Germany is GMT + 2

The countries time is always the same amount away from each other. However differs from the time away from GMT.

You can also just use the link I posted for your reference on whem a quest will start...

We are never GMT+3

but please revise your worldmap's times.

my standard time now is 07:38. i'm on 60° west.
so i suppose GMT should be at 12:38 now.
therefor IST should be 13:38. (if the server is in germany)

you put my line (60° west) for IST -2...
(seemingly you divided 360° in just 12 hours.)

Yeah I agree with that.

I like the idea of a global Illarion Server Time (IST)!

I suggest to make the normal Coordinated Universal Time (UTC) to our IST, which is the military "Zulu time" which is normal GMT (we shouldn't use daylight saving).

So, if I am correct, IST (UTC) would be now ~12:20 (pm) which is ~14:20 in Germany (UTC/GMT/CET+2 because of daylight saving).

PS: But do not replace the "normal" watch inside the client.

i m real confused. i ever think gmt is the time in london becouse greenwitch is near london... uhm..... yeah we need a servertime or something else

The UK has summer time too. It's GMT in winter, but GMT+1 in summer.

Someone give us a standard time, and we'll work with it.. use the server time if needs be.. simple.

why dont you just ask for the difference of a lady going into a church and a lady stepping out of a bath, or something similar?

The term "Public school" is a little odd to me.
It effectively means the same as "Private school" but sounds as if 'tis an opposite.

Ah well; another mystery of the English language.
