Tree Killing

I have a concern that I keep killing trees now that I know how to cut them down. Apple trees keep dying, and is there a way to replant them where there once was a tree? I was hopin there's a way to just replant the whole forest, it's looking pretty bare.

Does it require a certain level to plant them and .. how?

Then don't cut so many trees in one place. What kind of person kills all the trees in one area?

Anyway, planting trees is a peasantry skill.

Umm...Farming skill ((In English))) actually.

I am concerned that there aren't seedlings for conifer trees. Fir, Apple and Cherry have seedlings, so why not Conifer, Naldor and Oak?

Well.. its not like I'm trying to. I had no idea they could die. I found a good place.. I thought. It was a remote area with plenty of apple trees. Only 2 died so far. I've stopped wood cutting until I know of a proper solution. Like.. replace the trees that've been removed.

How do I plant apple trees? What are the steps to take? I mean, I'd like to do it if it's possible. I know this all sounds noobish, but after all.. I am. I do feel bad about it.

Collect a few apples and some buckets and ask someone IG. They will be happy to help you. If you have any skill at Farming, you should be able to plant trees.

Are you concerned or your character is concerned about tree killing? Because you could make your charcter think "someone else's problem" and just leave them. But if you want to learn to plant trees, ask ingame.

Yes and no. Once a while, game reset, everything you killed come back and it's considered act of god.

You should be able to plant them anyway. It will just take ages. That's how I train my farming skill.

Sereously people, Kevin hasn't much farming skill(if any.).
It doesn't take *that* long to plant a tree.
Patience young padawans! Patience!

A good rule of thumb for not killing every tree in sight is to take only a few branches at a time. If you take three from every tree, that should be a lot (especially if the area is densely populated with trees) and should last you a while. Long enough, at least, for the trees to replenish.
Though it seems to be more of a pain in the ass to do only a little at a time, at least when you need branches you'll be able to find the trees and they will not continually go missing and leave you with nothing.

Yes, there is a way to replant the trees (and I'm sure it's been written, but I only skimmed the above posts and wish to be succinct in my answer).
You are correct that there are seedlings available for apple, cherry, and fir trees. You put these saplings down on the grass/forest floor and pour buckets of water over them.

It will seem entirely too frustrating when you just start out. You will need many buckets and need to be near a water source so that your seeds turn into seedlings before the rot cycle takes them away forever.
By all means, practise this as much as you can, but the key is not to kill all the trees!

When the Divine Agents quest was on, I was literally in game an hour or more every day in the beginning just trying to keep a few trees within the outer borders of Trolls Bane. And, without fail, every day I would literally be replanting in the same place because someone had come by and killed all my trees. In the span of less than two hours once, 70+ trees had been wiped out.
It is no one's idea of fun to spend every minute with their character planting trees when the next arse with an axe comes along and kills them all and you need to do it again. GMs and IG tree-planters are not slaves.
Be aware of what you cut, how much you cut, and how often. And really, really, praise to you if you learn to replace what you kill.

And please, please, please, if you do this on one character, have another who feels the opposite. I don't care if it's considered meta-gaming. You'll get the shock of a lifetime the day that all the tree-planters are gone and you've nothing left to cut to further your own skills. People putting time and effort into planting trees create a livelihood for 2/3 of the game. They aren't your slaves and they're doing you a favour.

I know it can be a pain in the arse, but if you make a lazy, slefish character, they are unlikely to want to slave for ages to replant trees they killed. I think it is a good idea, what you just mentioned, about creating an opposite character.

Both ways are useless. If your tree-killer, god will undo what you done. If you tree-planter, god will also neglect your effort.

No offence, but, umm, God really doesn't count here.

But you know it's true.

Hmmm.

I'll kill only what I plant. Will just have to plan something. I have gathered fruit and will attempt planting apple trees.

I do not use branches much. Just logs.

My character's concern too, I just thought I'd ask here.

I also hate the thought of killing all the trees.

On a side note, it's not god, it's the gods.
We have more than one.

No it isn't. And if Kevin's right and you mean Gods, then... it still doesn't work. Yes, they "exist" in Illa, but they don't bloody exist. If you kill all the trees, believe me, Oldra's not walking her butt around our map planting more.
And if you do plant, you're right, she isn't gonna come pat you on the back, but you'll have trees to cut. So once more, your post was irrelevant and... lacking.

Oh, when game reset. I suppose our character say "Gee, which idiot turn back time?"

I always thought there's only one god of forest.

I never said kill what you plant is useless. I refer to whose purposely chop and kill trees for so-calld dark and whose try replant.

That isn't the gods neglecting your effort, that's the vicious cycle of ig happenings and people not thinking ahead. So, you can't say that that you mean character actions all along, when it's blatantly apparent that you said the gods would be doing the neglecting.

And.... as for the game resetting... you shouldn't be counting on stuff like that. Those are technical problems. As far as your character would be concerned, someone planted them. For whatever reason.

Then as far as my characters concern, Gods are ones make the doing

Gods or no gods.. To each their own beliefs, and their own higher powers.

I am now concerned about the woods west of Greenbriar. They are sooo thin that it's a joke to call it woods. Xonogor and Rumil tried to plant trees on the forest ground, but the apples/cherries would not sprout, after countless buckets were "splashed" on them. Why wont they? There are those of us willing to take the time to replant the woods.

You can't plant apple/slash cherry trees on forest ground. Only fir seedlings, which are got with a sickle...
And I wonder why they are so thin. Xonogor likes the trees, especially when Tink is around

Take a sickle walk up to a tree in the forest. Use the sickle on the tree until you get a fir seedling. Place the seedling on the farm ground. Pour water on it until it sprouts. Then transplant it onto the forest ground. I believe that is how it works. I have not done that in a while so don't quote me on it. Lol.

That changed before we even got the new client if I remember right.

Just dump the seedling on the ground where you want to plant it and toss buckets of water over it untill it sprouts.
