ok this is what I think we need to talk about, What really happens to a character that is cloulded.

I have seen several thing suggested. most of them is the player being injured in some kind of way not allowing him to fight for some amount of time.

As nitriam said though there are bugs within the death system. So keep that in mind when suggesting things as well.

Still try to avoid to lose skills. You know it it isn't for klling. Hu is already master smith. I still the system this way, more death. Otherwise too much powerful characters exit (for all profession)

master smith I wish, I wish i had as near most skill as slathel.

No this thread is about the RP for being clouded. How it should be what type of injurey, Should we say that cherga granted them another stay on the island or just RP someone brought them back to safty before they have died.

I say we rp that we come back with injuries...this is another reason why RP fights are so much better, one because they are fun and two because if you end up losing you can say where you got hit during the fight. and sometimes rp fights morph into cntrl click fights, when they do, you will at least have known whta has been injured becuase of the rp. it all depends.

you can do that anyways, roleplay fights are just a way for people who dont train their characters to be able to play their character as a master swordsman/mace wielder that can beat up a legitimately leveled fighter.

that where the honsty comes in if your character is trained or not. I mean every time I was in a RP fight with Hu'greu I played him to lose and it will still great fun. Rp fighter are a lot better in my opinon, but we do need the system to see who is the better fighter so we dont get the Noo you cant do that or that bullshit kinda of stuff. I also see RP fighter as a way of creativty too. There is the possiblity too for a more creative fighter to win the fight by other means then pure skill too.

What I really want this topic to cover though is not the fights that take place but what happens when you get clouded?

IMO I think that should be cherga giving you another life. The RP behind it may be weak but often people RP spitting on the dead body or whatnot.

***oh I forgot to add what should be the penlty you should hold yourself to.

I think a day in RL is enough time for the character to gain his strength back from being brought back from chergas relm.

Hu,

are you writing about all killings, or just about the PvP killings?

if clouded by a - let's say - wolf, the urge, to instantly return and pick up at least part of the items lost on the way to the cross is very strong....

you do bring up a very good point. Its very hard to decied on what to do about npc killing a player as well.

honsetly I have no problem really with the player going back and trying to get his stuff. Really no one will know if they have gotten clouded unless they see them at the cross getting res.

I guess we can really let the player deiced if he want to Rp he was injured or killed by a wolf. I dont really know , does anyone have any ideas for this?

I just wanna quote from the (outdated!) "Miscellaneous Development" section:
  • Once you die, you assume the form of a spirit, and must seek out a priest (player or NPC) who can then revive you. Upon reviving you will lose a bit of your skills though.
  • When priests die, they can not revive themselves, and must therefore also seek the help of other priests or visit a temple.
  • Upon a succesful atack on another player, you only knock him unconscious. This allows you to steal his items. If you really wish to kill him, you must attack again whilst he is down .
  • All items of an unconscious or dead character can be stolen, when you are able to carry them.
  • Unconscious players can be carried around (e.g. put in prison).
Is a clouded Ghost character meant to be seen by everyone? ("Oh, look, a ghost!")

Personal, I see resurrection at the "cross" as divine mercy (if you reall get killed in RP); if you "just" get hurt really, really bad, you should play a wounded character after resurrection at the cross (who should probably walk back where he "dies").

Personally, when playing Johnny Lant and clouded people, I would say : "I've beaten them to near-death."

I generally roleplay when youve been clouded and people take your items, you must say they looted your dead body... then when you get back your human avatar, that dead body is restored on you, extremely sore, hurt sweaty etc, but manageable. When you have several battles without dieing I roleplay being injured from various wounds depending how low my health gets.

I havn't the time to read all the posts right now, but here are some things I wish to bring up:

I vote for the injured part, though when 'dieing' far away and being all alone will cause a problem, your char may just have walked back heavily injrured and collapse, though how many will actualy do that? Far from everyone I'm sure since they will just want to go on leveling up and getting cool items. >.< Alot simply do care for skill and items, but don't truely tell anyone since they want to be called 'good roleplayers' or such.
(Like the temple discussion on Nalzie's pushed skills, I don't give a shit if he has, for me rp has grown more important than skill and 'fairness' Life isn't fair. Sure, the game needs to be enjoyable for everyone but alot here are simply to easely pissed off and get all whiney)

And how many will walk back like that?

And about the ghost thing everyone goes "Oh, a ghost!"
I hate it when people go like that, we seemed to have agreed upon ghosts being invisible over a year ago atleast(Likely lots longer).

The cross could be seen as a 'healing monument'(Or a priest), that lets you regain a fraction of your strength.

Most still simple never do read such things, and just do what someone else does, and hardly anyone bothers commenting these days it seems(We used to do that if I remember right, but it's the same as newbies to some, ignored completely. People simply need to be re-educated on respect and trying to help those who need it, though not doing so is the way things go largely in the world. We are all roleplayers, and one of our key assets should be the ability to empathize, since with that you'll rp quite alot better if your char isn't a simple clone of yourself.) , and so we all become devided in our ways of rp.

This also goes for: "I killed you!" and "He murdered me, murder him!"
That just isn't right in most cases. Ofcourse there are those small occasions where an actual ressurection may be in place(Because your char truely would not be able to survive, but you want to continue rping with it badly), but not every 5 minuites.

Also I would like to state:

RP fights are great, I love them so much more since in most fights there is hardly any rp at all as soon as the crtl+left click is given.
There are simply very many people who just want to win just so they don't lose items or skill, or just for the sake of having a 'better' character.

I'm fine with an rp fight being made into a 'real' fight, just so to see who is stronger and such, but not with the simplest of rp(if any) and nothing but the fighting system Illarion offers.

That will be all for now and do know:
This is *my* opinnion, if you decide to go flame(flaming isn't discussing, discussing is fine) me for it I honestly think you should go back to kindergarten and try Illa again in 5 years.

This brings me to another thing I wish to mention that I have noticed:
Some in this community seem to have never even heard of the word respect, and that sucks. You all know damned well what I mean if you think for 10 seconds, so don't go whining as some here do even though the answer is so damned obvious. You are all capable of shouting "UNFAIR!!!!!1" and "PK!!" and comming up with a million reasons why you're right and others(or everyone else) are wrong.
