Impeachment of the Captain

Dear Inhabitants,
Recently, the magistrate and I discussed the issue of the guard. It seems Phillippe seems rather inactive in his department and the guard has fallen to almost nothing. We seem to be relying on more of a volunteer from other guards to help us. I thank those who have.
Now, we inact a vote for the people of the isle to impeach the captain and we will bring a new one in.
You voted him in, you can vote him out. The vote will last 5 days.
Respectfully,
~Brer Beothach~

I vote aye, he wasn't even the first choice of the people, and he has been the most useless of all captains.

I have no problem simply standing down but to say I am inactive is a rather vicious insult. Often times I wake up to find the numerous people you broadly ban, those in the temple, in town and I do my job at keeping them out of town. However if you intend on replacing me, (and I was the peoples first choice, Tahlian almost got as many votes as myself but he stepped down shortly after he declared war on the town of Trolls bane itself), you should listen to my words when I say that the town guard needs armor and coin to supply itself. It is rather difficult to defend a town when you get no support from the standing governor, which appears at the moment nothing more then a figure head when it's own decrees cannot be upheld.
As said, a simple notice asking me to stand down would have been more then fine, but if you wish a public show, I will be more then happy to appear and defend myself, I have numerous scars from Gort's battle staff to prove I've been anything but inactive.
In your service,
Phillippe Charboneau, Paladin of Elara

Money is not the issue here. Why gather money for a guard that isn't there?

Money for potions and for weaponry Magistrate. The temple members have seemingly endless potions and are not hesitant to use them during combat, as such they last far longer then anyone.

Phillippe, you miss the point. Potions and weapons can be acquired. The point is, WHO is recieving them? Because right now all I see is you.

And that is the unfortunate truth magistrate. The recruits I have had are killed off immediately by the temple members, as you can imagine a powerful guard in this town is not good for them. I can only do so much to convince people to stay in the guard while they are being attacked constantly by the temple, ensuring they never are properly trained and can never carry good equipment for more then 5 minutes. A prime example was Karl Salameh, he was a great recruit until the temple found out he was in the guard and certain members of the temple attacked and cut him apart whenever they saw him. As there are no incentives to be apart of the guard anymore (no pay, no free armor nor proper training) there is no reason to be in the guard, much less in Trolls bane if we will constantly be fighting a seemingly losing battle with the temple as our own "allies" do nothing to aid us. But it is not my job as captain of the town guard (i assume) to build internal ties with the other towns, that is the governor's job which he has done poorly at, (apparently from the lack of aid given by the other towns), but if you wish to use me as the scapegoat for why the town is falling apart, I have no problem.

Falling apart? Trollsbane is better off today than it was weeks and months back, when not only was the temple attacking, but the people were fighting amongst themselves in near civil war. That is now pretty much gone, and the problem I see here is that you are giving up because of a single problem. There are ways around the issues you describe, but instead you decide to just do nothing anymore.

Not correct Magistrate, I hardly give up, as I will fight as always those you declare banned. But I receive no aid no show that you or the governor are doing your jobs properly. You can take this position from me and put someone else in my place but the situation will never get better until the Governor decides to make decisions and you figure out how not to write messages to the captain of the guard without sounding condecending.

I haven't been doing my job properly? I think otherwise, but if you want to make that case fine, it would probably be because all the inmates escape before trial, and that myself and other independent people are doing your job by chasing various criminals about, and it's hard to do both.

A. This is hardly chaos.
B. Your dear Rothman was on a conquest to slaughter the innocent, take over every town and become king. Hence the being overthrown and everybody hating him.

I never really met that Phillippe Charboneau or one of the town guard.
At the moment there is no military defense in Troll's Bane, the Cult does what it wants...
We really need good fighters but unfortunately there not many left on Gobiath...

I had and still have the intension to join the townguard of Trolls Bane. Sadly i wasn't able even to speak with the current captain mr Charboneau, because he was not a single time avaiable.
I can't say if mr Charboneau is a good captain or not, while he was active and around. But his current absence can't be good for the town.
I'm looking forward, that he mr Charboneau becomes more active again or a new captain is found.
best regards,

I also tried to apply for the town guard. Sir Charboneau said he would take me in after a few days respite that I can use to think over my decision.
I would still be glad to be taken in as a recruit.
Yours sincerely,

Phill has a valid point. The guard buys there own armor, weapons, and food to protect a town for free. Then the blackstone cult attacks and they lose all the things they fought to get. I would be happy to pay the town guard or Brer money to pay them. I could also donate some potions, armor, and weapons to the armory.
