alright my suggestion for the new fighting system, take or leave it.

I always knew my char was weak, but I never imagined this weak.

regular day blah blah blah, when I run across a newbie

noob " how do you where cloths"

I finish my conversation with gort, and whisper the answer to him in ooc. then, he starts attacking me, (bohoo a noob right?) one tenth of my health is gone in a single hit....wow. so a third of my health is gone and I start running, unfortunatly he's faster due to my lag and gets real close, some others stop him and I get a good distance away. I told him not to attack and he said "tell me how to put on clothes then!"...I was threatened, and at the mercy of someone who had been in the game for probaly less than 5 minutes.

someone whispers to him and they both walk away. later he attacks me without a word with a good suprise attack and gets me down to one tenth of health. I probaly would have been pked many many times until I logged off had it not been for someone stopping him again.

any answers?

Shouldn't make your char that weak, get him fightin' pigs for a bit.

Erm, killings pigs dosent give any defense, its the weapon skill
Maybe you could show your character's attributes here, as well as what he was wearing, because you arent detailed at all.

Many would care to disagree, but I think I am tolerant of noobs. The only only only thing I do with noobs are:

If they attack me or someone else without reason I do try to warn him in OOC. IF they continue I two hit them.

If they type and try to RP then I help them.

If they don't attack, but are total noobs, I ignore them and leave.

But back onto topic; Train dodge and parry and carry some light armor. Getting PKed by a new character is sad.

Gildon,

yeah, thats fine!
to role play a taylor bard or cook, one has to send the char first to boot camp.

i llove it!

I think it's really pathetic that you have to always train in fighting just to do something...whatever happened to the "A game where someone never has to pick up a weapon"?

This is a noob problem, not a fighting system problem. The only problem isnt that you got beat, its that the noob was attacking for ooc nonsense

like alli said, this is supposed to be a game where you do not need fighting skills, yet everyone is so into fighting chars and thieves, not to mention the new players attacking randomly, that we can no longer make regular chars

If you would stop camping the newb-spawn your chars would be in much less trouble. ;)

In other words:
Consider living peacefully somewhere else but Trollsbane.

It's not that big a problem, since I ( and only I ) don't get attacked by noobs everyday.

I Think I found the problem, constitution: 1

and I was wearing leather by the way. I am pretty skilled with daggers and swords, and parrying, but it's hard to train defensive stuff if you live as long as I do in a fight. and I can't live any longer because I don't have the skill. or stats.

whatever happened to the "if you're not attacking and your agility is high you can dodge like crazy!"?

constitution is one? looool

Find yourself lucky they dont kill you in a single hit ;)

Thats true if you have good dodge.

Anyway, you cant become a decent fighter with one constitution in this system.

I wasn't trying to be a fighter.

True, you don't tell craftmen to fight. However, it's always smart idea to learn fight for protection. Beside, not all new comers are aggresive. Maybe the player make the charactes such.

One constitution is asking to die. If you roleplayed that stat, your character should be permanently critically ill.

I didn't think 1 con was even possible? I don't think a baby like this could survive childbirth.

Well I had CONTACT with such a nice player as well, I tried to explain him some things cause he asked (how to moce etc  ) then he attacked me. I told him to stop, keep a distance of 1 tile inbetween him and others and the like. But he ran after me keeping on attacking me. ... well lucky me, I was faster, but I heard him yelling "I like this game, it is fun".

And my char doesn't fight, does not carry any weapon, because she is a druid. There ARE chars which don't fight at all, and for those situations as described are ... to put in in neat words "not nice at all"

I don't have Kevin carry a weapon or an armour either most of the times, only a little poisoned dagger in his belt if I hadn't tossed it at Galty(I have tons more but psssht, dont tell ) .

And I've also met these kind of players, the kind that don't listen and don't want to listen, and it is indeed verry anoying. Luckely some of us have wrestling also...

@Donal and Gro'bul

Not everyone plays to their stats, 't sucks but 'ts true.

On another little note: Balanced chars rule!

I was suprised by his way of thinking. it wasn't even runescape style. who enters a game and with no skill at all starts demanding and threatening? it's asking to get killed (my weak char is a very special exception  )

a new and aggressive player gets ingame.
his char gets beaten. he just makes a new one.....

would it be an idea, to allow new accounts only one char for a certain time?
so they have to be more cautious, to go on playing?

why would they be cautious? they run in, get killed, find out they can't have another chance and quit.
