I've noticed that there are little abbreviations next to my leather bags such as "(pv)" and "(ds)". What do these mean, if anything?

As far as I know, I believe those are 'tags' (kinda like a 'room name') for the program to remember which bags have which Items within them. I have noticed that no two bags are the same.
I've made enough of them to know.

I don't think they have any other importance than as an 'identifier'. Kinda like the 'depot' system. Each depot is 'named' and save your items as well, just like the bags.

If I remember correctly you can type in a command and nickname each bag so it is easier for you to keep track of what they are for.. such as "WPN" or "Amr" and so on.

Ok, this is the second time I have heard about these secret 'commands'. I have looked everywhere for commands for location, naming bags and others.

Just where do you guys look this stuff up? It seems to be well-hidden from new people and it doesn't seem fair that it's not in a manual or something.

Doesn't everybody?

Organization Hint: Get more than one bag and open up some space in those depots. 8)

Just take a look at the news :?

http://illarion.org/general/us_news_archive.php

scroll down, up to labeled bag

Labeled bags

From now on it is possible to label leather bags with a shortcut of three lower case letters. To do so just type the command !bag xyz (where xyz is the disired shortcut) and after that use the bag with shift+click. With using the command !bag you can remove the label again. Labeling bags is only possible if the bag is serving as backpack or placed on the ground. Merry Christmas

In the past you could buy one from a NPC in Greenbriar, but the NPC was changed even before the recent catastrophe there.
So you have to find players who can make bags.

PS: You can't really put much wood or other ressources in a bag inside your depot...

soooo many of those could be together, if you want to save space. suck as money and exports, or clothes and leather. bags hold so much junk. I used to think like you but it's easier (for me at least) to have no more than two or three.

Just a word of advice. If you plan on storing more than 100 of any resource such as Ore, leather, wood, pork/ham, sand, cloth etc. I would keep those OUT of bags and just in the Depot. I believe, the limit a bag holds is based on wieght, and raw resources are usually heavy. Otherwise, bags are very useful.

Wow. I didn't realize at all how uncommon it was to have only one bag.

Every single one of my characters has only one bag =D !! I basically use this one bag almost exclusively as a minature portable depot, and even then, I rarely carry very much in it.

I had one bag until about a month ago. I think it was those copper plates that turned unstackable, and I have about 1000, and still have hope that one day they will be worth something.

Maggie can make them... though not very well yet, so they're a bit expensive because of the amount of supplies it takes her.

For maggies bags not much. I paid 10 copper and 3 leather each for 3 bags. so probably 20 copper max. Mind there is always the chance she will raise her prices if she finds she is losing to much money. So buy quick.
