Why'd the selling price for leather shoes get cut in half?

perhaps because every warrior makes them and other tailors cant sell their shoes...

because thats the only way of makin money for the worriors who can only fight up mummies. i mean, we could sell the thread or the leather but that is the hell not enough for new armor or weapons.

ich rede nicht von plündern, sondern von Jagdbeute. Die kann man auch gut verscherbeln. Mehr sage ich hier nicht. Ist ja auch egal.

I think your problem is not that the price paid for leather shoes has gone down, but the dynamic pricing of the merchants. When I just sold some leather shoes, it sold for the price they normally do.

However, merchants only sell their 'premium' price for one sale. The next one is less, and I believe continues to decrease with each subsequent sale to a minimum. Thus, if you flood a mechant with a type of item, s/he won't be paying much for them soon. You have to give them a break between sales to build back up.

Now that the secret has been revealed, expect that to change soon.
