i do not pretent to be the best at my skills but i know the basics of:

Taloring
Smithing i.e tools needed and the tecneque
Mining i.e. different mines and which rocks do what
Gem grinding i.e how do do it were to find different gems and which rocks give them
carpentry
glass blowing

Any tips on glassblowing would be swell.

the items you need are :pot ash, quarts sand, WOODEN shovel and obiasly a glassblowing pipe simply hold the shovel and the pipe and use the glass metlting furnce but i am afraide i do not know where to get the wooden shovel ,you can get the pipe of of sam in the grey rose castle the sand in varshikar ((dig nere the rock nere the workshop)) and pot ash you get after the fire burns out hope that helps

Look for a carpenter for a wooden shovel, they take very little skill to produce. The npc who sells them is currently broken.

And where is there a proper furnace?

in the varshikar workshop which i recomend because its right nest to the desert

Theres also one in Trolls bane workshop. Its fairly easy to find, theres a dwarf standing outside it on the main east-west street.
