Dangerous changes to Gobiath

I like the new cows and more plentiful sheep, deer and pigs. And the new oak tree is just beautiful (wish I could get some acorns, oak would be a nice hard wood to work with).

However, I have recently noticed some new 'dangerous' additions, like that wolf south of Trollsbane as well as three trolls blocking the cemetary!

It used to be safe around Trollsbane between the rivers and from Greenbriar to the cemetary.

Ummm.......I'm not concerned for myself, but could we give newbies some notice so that they won't carelessly venture into "previously" safe territory?

Or is this just part of those "Dangers" the arch mistress wouldn't tell the public about, and thereby spilling newbie blood unnecessarily?

Just a concern.

I am his opinion. That wolf is too dangerous to be so close to town. at one day we had to kill it three times, and many peoples died because of that wolf.

please don't make monsterspawns that close to town, really.

When we get weather and it snows, I think that the wolves should come to town, sounds quite sensible, but that one by town, that was senseless. They should be made weaker, Skeletons are easier to kill.

I just reduced the threat of wolves by reducing their walking speed. Wolves are now as fast as very fast characters, not as fast as lightening. Please report your experiences with wolves.

Sorry, wenn ich das jetzt auf Deutsch schreibe, das geht grad mal einfach von der Hand. Man möge mir verzeihen.

Wolfs and trolls/ogres are too powerful to let them spawn too close to towns and often walked ways.

i had two encounters with the wolves last night, once south of trolls bane where several people died and another near grey rose where i myself died three times and two others died one person twice and the other once, they are too stroing and too close to town, I dont claim to be an expert swordsmen but my sword skills are decent .

Has anyone else noticed the massive increase in monsters in the southern woods? mainly wolves and skeletions. and plenty of them. at least eight of either i met jut crossing through.

@estralis

wolves are still crazy fast, and i'm talking even when using a fast character.

I think wolves should be very fast as they are four legged. But the damage should be taken down, its teeth vs sword, the sword would win.

To give you a number, I reduced the "speed" of wolves from 22-40 to 12-22. Thats quite alot. Wolves should be swift, but not too fast so nobody can escape them.

To summarize the motivation, a char with high agility should have an advantage in terms of being able to escape while a slow tank has some problems...
I think wolves should be very fast as they are four legged.
LOL!

I think oposite, You see wolves are infact very fast, and very strong. But to kill several people is insane! They would kill a few and feed on them. And bite who comes near.

they've never done much damange to me. actually it seems just about right. wolves are bite and release animals. they bite, thrash and tear things apart. animals who fight with natural things like teeth and very vicious.

but speed i'd say maybe a bit faster then 12-13. make them the fastest animal without making them insanly fast. but that would mean checking the stats of all the other npc. faster then flies for sure though.

Even an archmage will be dead when meeting one or two wolfs as long as that mage can't cast perfectly paralyze. Which just the pushed questmages can cast.

p.s. look at pharuns killcounts through wolfs, and WHERE that happened. That is not fun developing. that is overkill. please move wolfs again more far away from towns and from non warriors often visited places.

The wolf is firstly too strong, it is stronger then most other wolves, and secondly too close to town. It causes too much of a problem, Stephen in full armour needed 4 strong heals to kill the wolf with a double axe; last night, i don't know if you weakened it or not.
I really do not think any monsters should be close to towns, but I suppose Trolls Bane is always the exception.

Did the wolves get a powerup?

Because last time I encountered a wolf, I killed it with some amount of ease, it only got me *maybe* halfway down on health, not even that I think. The one we encountered *by greyrose castle* (as in, between the bridge and the castle) wiped me out before my client even unfroze from the attack sound starting (being on such a slow comp it freezes for 5-10 seconds the first time something attacks for the sound.) I had also encountered a bandit there earlier in the day.

I really don't think something that powerful should be roaming so close to town. The one south of town last night sent Revlen, Stephen, Alexander Dullblade, and at least two others to the cross, some more than once. As pointed out, the one up by the castle killed Pharun several times, myself, and Taylor.

At the moment, with these things roaming so close, I quite literally don't dare leave the town. There is no way I can take on one of these by myself. And I am a mid-level fighter; I pity any newbies that stumble on one of these.

The Trollsbane area has always been a haven for newcomers, safe to wander for a tleast a little ways around it. I don't like this change, to say the least.

Wolves are defintiely too strong. My thief isnt that strong himself, he has blue-green slashing skiills and blueish parry, but still. A young child with a sword and armor and no idea how to use it should kill a wolf with a single stab. Make them strong attack wise, but make them have low healt, it makes sense

Oook i fought a wolf earlier and Retlak did not take much damage.. damage yes, but not as much as people make is sound.

Hmm, apparently the wolf stats are too randomised.

I really don't like how this is sounding. If you can beat a skeleton armed with a warhammer, then you should easily kill a wolf...

A char with 150 constitution got beaten up by a wolf, i think Hadrien is right, this is pretty too randomized. Other wolves were fine after.

That sounds like some Developer were so smart to gave an alpha wolf into the chance to be spawned. What is a total overkill.

Where is this Trolls bane wolf actually spawned? i want to go see what its like. :P

Wolves shoulnt be really strong, not having any high healt. When a fighter in full armor loses to a wolf then its crap, its illogic, they should be weaker than skeletons that sure. Fast? yes they should be, try fleeing from a wolf in forest in RL, I wish you good luck. But even there, an unarmed adult in RL should be able to kill most wolves, one to one. They can still attack much...but they shoulnt have healt any high, for obvious reasons.

Hmm, I have an idea

Make the spawn time for wolves Randomised for a max of 3 real-live days, but not less than 1

.: You could have automated wolf attacks, rarely; somethign for the civvies to invent a way to kill..

The problem to me is not the spawn time..its their strenght, no one ca ndefeat a wolf unless he has skills over average and is well armored if a warrior.

Exactly. Even an unarmed person who is a bit strong can take on a rl wolf. Yet in this an unskilled knight in armor is slaughtered by the weakest of them. Its quite stupid, really

... have you guys ever seen a wild wolf?

Their jaws can break your bones and they go straight for your neck. I really doubt a grown man could kill a wolf barehanded. a very well trained man could yes, but the average man, no chance.

Have uber strong wolves spawned deeper in the southern forest. I have no problem with strong monsters ingame. It is when they are at the south bridge, being spawned there, that it becomes a problem.
And for the arguement that the strong wolf would eventually find its way to the south bridge by following someone, I expect the wolf to kill its prey long before it reaches the south bridge ;)

When it jumps at you split its legs and rip its heart, easy.

a grown man, even untrained, could hold off a wolf. He'd have to injure it quickly though, because the wolf would be strong. But only attack wise. The man could easily injure the wofl with a punch to the nose. Most wild animals are easy enough to hurt with a swift punch or kick, leaving enough time to snap its neck or attack otherwise.
