Concerning orcs

Sorry for asking this, but why are the orcs literally living in Troll's Bane lately? I know not all gaurds can be online at the same time, and they are easily overrun, but that is no reason to live in Troll's Bane with your tribe?
Again I am sorry for asking, but I thought tribes had a solid place to live with their tribe? A cave or a general place somewhere isolated? It seems nowadays more than half of Troll's Bane is populated with orcs, orcs that do not even live there. Feed my curiousity please.

Not sure for the others, but back with Alkuurg it is just plain boring sitting on your own. Even with the shadowhorde it gets real old as nothing happens.

for now there are no clans or tribes so the orcs are free lancers...true some are friends but none that i am aware of are clan brothers as they are called

Us orc Players just go to the town because we're bored. If the quests were somewhere else other than trollsbane maybe we wouldnt lurk there.

it's an obvious explanation.

I know this is a catch-22, but maybe if players hung around other locations, say the bloodskull cave or Varshikar, quests would happen somewhere else ;)

Yeah, "citizents of Varshikar" are more often at Trollsbane then Varshikar

Varshikar's too small, and in a catch-22, theres never anyone to rp there with ;)

But it doesn't happen. When the cave WAS used by the shadowhorde, the only quests we got were some fairies who took us to Trolls Bane. Other then the ones i got Nitram to do ;) (which were great, by the way).

Of course that may have changed now.

yes we all know what should happen, the problem is if theres an average of 15 people online, and you split them all up, we grow very thin.

problem: lack of players

solution: wait for Illarion to grow.

just because 3 or 4 people stay in one area doesnt mean that they will be satisfied...personally i like Rping with more than 5 people...i like meeting new people and the only place thats possible is TB. dont know how to do anything about that but thats the only place to be.

Edit: The orcs only had one quest and that really wasnt even a quest (put on by "The Man" Nitram) all it was were a bunch of spiders and ogers and other things attacking the cave...Gabon alone could have made short work with them. That was back when the Shadow Horde was arround. there were orcs on all the time then but nothing happened.

Maybe you could make a quest somewhere else and get a GM to come to trollsbane and say "Help at the Orc cave." Some dude (123456883736) Pants " Lots of" Some dude (123456883736) Falls on teh ground, he has blood all over his back.

i agree with Gabon, there no reason to stay in Varshikar. one trader, no people, not even books on the shelves. no point in being anywhere but trollsbane for that fact. because thats where everything is, so people naturally stay there.

Illarion has been around for years?

My idea - make places like Varshikar and the Skull Cave more "dynamic" like Trollsbane (i.e, NPCs that buy/sell stuff, maybe more land area, more crafting places).

what's your point? that in it's first few years, it's as big as it's ever going to be?

I believe Gort is tribal leader of the mountain orcs and Crothu is leader of bloodburner clan. There are two tribes of orcs; however they still live in trolls bane.

i disagree with making other places then trolls bane that active.

We have to less players to fill more then one town.

So i think its the best to to get along with trolls bane until we have more active players.

Then we can think about Varshikar or something else...

i agree with nitram, we dont have enough players to spread them out. Itd hurt rp more than help it.

I don't think so.
Trolls Bane has enough people on it's citizens list, that are active and can fill the town effectively.

Varshikar has enough active people that if they would just stay north for say two weeks straight, I believe, Varshikar would have a regular occurance of people.

Same for the orcs, Gort had 5 orcs ingame today, where were they ? Trolls Bane, they could have done everything they wanted in the orc cave with plenty of roleplay.

What must be done, if you truely want the towns to be active, for the citizens of each town to actually roleplay and "live" in their town, you must keep this frame of mine, "Roleplay will come to me not I to it". It will work, it will just take time and a lot of patience.
I think various active towns would help give depth to this game. But to achieve that you need more then giving a town very eye pleasing table and chair situations, (That Varshikar i must say has), you need players willing to force the town and people who want to play with them to meet them in the currently inactive towns.

It really would be nice if in other locations than Troll's Bane/Grey Refuge have more activity. But as it is said above: All the action more or less takes place in Troll's Bane and it's neighborhood.
So I don't wanna walk miles (or spend money for a portal) to Greenbriar or Varshikar to see some empty houses and only a few merchants , which I do not really need because I can sell my stuff to the many NPCs in TP/GR or to PCs that are always around.

PS: Nadir in Varshikar is completely broken, isn't he?

I disagree about the potential spread out.

If more players were "motivated" to move their characters from place to place, chances are everybody would do it. Thus, they would meet often on common travel routes and end up meeting in the same place.

If traveling wasn't so hazardous, I would spend all my time just exploring the place.

I'd travel all over the island if I'd a reason to do so. But running all the way to Greenbriar for trading with an NPC is a waste of my chars time.

I actually travel loads with Misjilah, and I cannot recall the last time I met anyone on my travels to Greensbriar, the Magic Academy or Vanima. I do hope more people feel motivated to travel there (I can understand not heading to Greensbriar, but I mean, Vanima and the Magic Academy should have atleast some appeal nowadays).

Almost nobody knows where the magic academy is. Exept of the mages, who usually have other places to be.
