goldsmithing again

for months now I have been waiting to learn to make the diamond ring. I know how to make all the other rings except diamond. for months I have been smelting and smithing hundreds and hundreds and hundreds of copper ingots, which, by the way is getting harder and harder due to all these updates. and I haven't even seen my guy get one of those blue swirly level up things forever. is there something I need to do like make at least one of everything on my list or something? there has to be some kind of glitch here

also with an average pick axe, a good hammer, and crappy smelting tools, everything I make is a very bad crappy highly scraped item. I'm lucky if I get an average highly scraped in a hundred tries. you guys keep saying that it depends on the quality of my stuff and everything but I have a very good hammer and an average pick, shouldn't that make me have at least average rings most the time?

I don't want to complain but is it supposed to be this freaking hard?

whats your dexterity? and start smithing golditems. you dont learn with copper anymore when reaching a certain skillevel

My dexterity is extremely high. 15 or above I pretty sure.

that would explain some, if you have to smith gold, but I do smith quite a bit of it, I got a ton of gold bars from that gold coin glitch, and I have been smithing a ton yet my skill won't go up

I did learn to make a copper goblet not to long ago but I'm pretty sure that that was because of the update not my skills.

It is probably just very very hard to gain skill in, like alot of things.

Ever tried Alchemy?

300 Ciders
100 Wine
600 Yellow Dye (And dyed cloth)
200 Antidotes

And I wouldn't even call it green yet lol.

But then Alchemy is purposely a very hard skill, as its effects are very rewarding. The same would apply for all "rare" professions such as magic and goldsmithing.

yes but I was going along fine getting a new item for every 300 smithed goods I made and then all of sudden it just stopped. and it isn't very rewareding if all you make is crappy highly scraped. and not to mention that rings don't break yet and therefore people like retlak and Aremeh find a diamond ring and they don't need to buy another one ever again.

If nothing breaks, then quality doesn't matter.

And you can always sell them to others...

no, not really.

I don't sell rings. the only way I could, is if:

A. I'm extremely lucky and get an average ring

B. I'm selling a really crappy ring to someone who doesn't have a ring yet wants one (doesn't happen very much suprisingly)

the bulk of my customers want quality and thats it. I can't sell to anyone because my skill won't go up. right now I make money mainly by smith thousands of cutlery and selling them to the dude ontop the tavern.

the game is not about skills....remember?

yeah, but if a skill has any sort of glitch, I think it should be fixed. your all fighting about the magic and the fighting skills right? it over powered of under powered. I'm just curious as to if it's meant to be an impossible skill, or if theres some kind of glitch. glitches are not rare.

c'mon blogGreen88 dosent sound like a spaming kind of guy...err

With Gort's tailoring I fail like 70% of the time.(Bug?) anyways I get liek one new thing in every 15 successfull light hunting armors. and one new. this takes about 50 leathers and thread. Ooh and by the way I have made over 800 light hunting armors befor I gain the next level in tailoring. And then I have to get dye from one of the 3 people that can make yellow dye. And get all the normal materials. And fail 9 of 10 brass leggings..soo yeas.

after reading the other thread, the gm said that after while you have to make complex items

I don't know if this goes for all the other classes but:

the most complex thing I can make that I haven't ben making before is the plate, reason being that no npc buys them, and if I were lucky enough to get some chef to buy them (which I have never done) they would buy 1, of my 2 thousand. is it normal to....dump, items? these plates are COMPLETELY useless. I would think the guy ontop the the bar would buy them, but he buys alll the wooden things, and half the copper things, not plates.

another complaint, (sorry!) the guy buys cutlery for 7 coins each set. thats way more than he buys copper goblets, and I fail alot more on goblets. shouldn't something hard to make be worth more?
