You asked for it, you got it. Goodbye Illarion.

I am leaving illarion.
Yes, you've all asked for it, congratulations, I will go. Not out of a want to do so, myself, however I feel like I've long overstayed my welcome, and recent events involving the fact that I self defended myself and got burned for it by a fair ammount of people proves the point.
I'm not going to shed any tears this time, because anyone I would shed a tear over is long since gone or probably heading there. Though I'm sure the roleplaying of (many) newcomers is great, and I apologise for not witnessing this as much as I would like to.
As for the people that think I am a quote "insensitive, bitching shit and you've got some kind of sick pride about it!! Nobody gives a flying weasel ass if you've got problems and are too busy wallowing in the scum pool of pity to go find ways to help yourself." I would like to give a heaping pile of this:
For anyone who feels I should apologise for defending my nationality against someone elses (and you all know who you are and what I'm talking about) I would like to give an additional serving of
To anyone who thinks I will be coming back next week, I'm sorry but this is a formal request to have my IP address burned from this website and therefore its forums, and my accounts (characters and forums) deleted.
And finally, to all the people who haven't yet blocked me on msn or are unhappy to see me go, I am unhappy to go. But I've overstayed my welcome in this community and this is my resignation from it, I wish it made impossible for my return and I wish everyone else the best, truely.
I hope the celebrations don't last too long, drive home safely. Much hugs and love.
Goodbye,
~Sean-san, five years an illarionite.

That is pretty sad, indeed. I really liked you. I don't care what the others say. Well.. I'll still talk to you over MSN, you won't get away from me.
See ya, Sean.

If all you're talking about was the porn-avatar thread, you weren't defending your nationality, since there were no attacks on it. If that is truly what this is all about, then all you were doing was being an asshole.

It's always a shame when someone goes here (unless they have been unbeleivably un-reasonable) especially when its someone who has been here for such a long time. I admit some of the comments made on the Pr0n Av thread were bad, but I hardly ever hold a grudge.
But my opinion you should never let anyone/body push you away from something you enjoy.
Seeya Sean and take care
P.S I'm not taking sides with anyone before anything is said so nerr

Aye, although I believe your comment in the Illarionite Pornstar Thread was bang out of order and should not have been said, I still feel it would be a shame for you to leave.
Take a day or two to calm down and then make your decision.
Best Wishes whatever your choice.

I don't really think what you said about the Netherlands was being in defense in any way, quite the opposite. You went after a bunch of people, who many of which were quite courageous in WWII actually.

Despite my thoughts above, I know how you feel, I feel the same way, and although we argued a few times, and the insulting comments where you probably deserved flaming, you were interesting to have around, I dont think we really met IG though, unless on names I didn't know about.
And I will probably head out too, because although I agree with some of the flaming on either side, this community has WAY too many bad vibes going on OOC (myself included). We have two extremes going on, people who dislike eachother- having an effect IG, and people who are friends with eachother-having an effect IG. Things are dominated by OOC influences, and the RP just seems so fake because of it, and it is. Not only that, but it's the same old thing everyday, small talk and idling. If I wanted to idle and small talk, I can do that in a lot of places. That added with random old players/devs ignorant on what goes on, site problems, unrealistic/frustrating char behavior, and enough negative feelings to go around 10 times, as seen here all cause major issues.
I can't really keep up with RP anymore, I use to defend against people saying random shit about me, but whatever theyre probably right. Now that I'm done ranting/thread hijacking: if you want to talk about Oblivion or anything Returner hit me up, or anyone else who wants to do diablo, GW, tibia, Oblivion, know where to find me.

A tear is shed...
As will another when Cas sees this thread.
*sigh*
Turny, you are one of the few and oldest players in Illarion that I still have any shred of respect for. You will certainly be missed by me, even if we hold little more than a agree-to-disagree kind of relationship.
I do wish you would reconsider.

I... can't believe that those of us who didn't want to see you go don't get a picture!
I'll miss you. Well... only the interesting comments on the forums cause I refuse to let you get rid of me from msn.

(as if you could pull yourself to do so). Besides... I know where you live. MUahahahahaha.
And might I just add, above anything else, I feel very sorry that you, Fooser, and anyone else feels they've outstayed their welcome. That... blows. And.. sucks. I didn't think it was physically possible for something to both blow and suck at the same time, but there it is.
Miss you, hun.

I... it feels like
I'm the one that should go... were it not for my comment/question on the Avatar-porn thread, it wouldn't've turned out the way it had.
What I find admirable is the ability to just walk away. Not for a day... But forever.
Planning this post for a while now, so I know what I want to say. I guess that's you as the reader's bonus this time around, a well thought out post. Regardless, let's begin.
I find the ability to walk away admirable, because it proves humans have a lack of care for each other. Human beings seem to thrive on balanced levels of hurt and happiness, therefore they try to stay in a state of neutrality at the expense of everyone else, in my personal views.
If things become too good to be true, or just plain super happy, we begin to feel cautious; we ruin the oppurtunity for bliss because we feel the need to balance the happiness with the hurt, and this to me is akin to having the cake and then smashing it with a large wooden mallet.
People who disappear have a method. They did so, either to get rid of the hurt and become happier; or because they felt they were TOO good off, grew distrust, and are trying to balance their hurt.
I'm sure many people reading this have had people disappear on them; I have. For people who crave closure, this creates a massive shift of uncertainty, leading to years of questioning their (or your own) motives. Those who do not crave closure can shrug an encounter like this off and continue forward.
Then there are people who fit into that first category, but have had it happen so many times that they, instead of questioning the motives of the people involved (or their own), simply want to do it to other people so that they too can feel what they feel. This spiteful group often becomes the majority of people walking away.
But spite is not a bad thing. The most admirable thing about walking away, either for balance or for spite, is the ability to leave everything behind--
To start over.
I find this admirable, because I could never do it. I'm too far gone to consider giving up my dependancies on people; the only thing I can do is hope they give up theirs on me, and slowly fade away.
I cannot even write, or begin to understand, the financial intricacies of tax season. Why science is the way it is, why people do what they do, or what kind of astrological or astronomical event created us as a species.
I cannot walk away. But I wish I could.
So for everyone whose ever left everything behind and began a new life,
I salute you.
From
http://lasukie.blogspot.com , Turny's blog. Post date 4-16-06.

Forgive me if I misinterpreted this, but... you think (hope?) you're just going to be forgotten (whether it be from those who liked you or those who didn't)? You're wrong again, Turny, but for a different reason.
Five years. I've been on here a week, and already I feel at home. And home is never the same again when one of its most important mainstays is no longer present. Five years... you might be leaving, but you're never going to forget Illarion. And you will never be forgotten.

I want to be honest. Sean, I don't really know what to think of you. Sometimes you are really fun, sometimes you are plain annoying and sometimes you just step too far. But you're a part of this community as everyone else. If you feel that you outstayed your welcome then this is because of your habit to post things without thinking. The comment on the porn-avatar thread was a step that should never have been taken, and you should have known that. I don't know what kind of personal problems you might have, but I think it's better to get professional help then to outlive them here. This is a big community of many different people and it is easy to offend someone with a comment that was meant as a stupid joke.
I truely hope you will get yourself sorted out and return one day again.
@Aurica: You could not know these things would happen. It's life. It's unpredictable, and sometimes brings bad surprises. But it's not our fault, it just happens.

Turny, you made a mistake; people flamed you... its over..
You made a mistake, they flamed you which was also a mistake... stop taking things personally, this community has a way of flaming people who do wrogn things...
Enough of this, no-one wants you to go.. (well the majority don't anyway)
Come on, please stay...

I feel the same as Adano. You used to be much more of a fun guy, with good comments and arguments all around. Lately you have just been a pain in the ass, and I really wish you weren't.
Anyhow, if you feel you should leave over one thing, then do so.

The mistake here, is in thinking one thing made me go. No, its not one thing, its many things over the past several months that has driven me away. I felt it would be rude to not make my reasons as clear as everyone elses beyond one sentence that appears to have made other people realize the same thing. The community is a slum. Its garbage. Someone new comes, the majority of you flame them. The original staff of the game is long since broken up, guilds are absolutely pointless in the face of ingame politics, which is made even worse by the lack of next to any player quest support, of course you could just script in some lifeless drone npc's that tell you to go get a sword in some ruins somewhere, but wheres the interaction if 90 or 100 people are doing the exact same quest?
Almost all the people I've roleplayed with, or were friends within game or on these forums are gone, long long gone.Either that, or they've changed consideribly from the people they were.
I've been on the forums the past few days just looking around at the crap many of you post, and I have to say....does it make you happy to know that you in the eyes of probably every RPG community you claim your not like, are the most cynical, sarcastic and annoyingly pathetic community? Honestly, I don't think the dog down the street bitches as much as half of you.
And anyone with a basis for bitching gets bitched at.
These forums are quite frankly, the rag sea.
My leaving isen't the fault of any one of you, its the fault of the completely annhilated community that WAS here.
Now this, I can garuntee of you will be my last post. I felt it rude to make a goodbye thread without responding to some of the goodbyes and re-iterating my point to anyone who hasen't gotten it.
Thanks to everyone whose given a damn about my leaving, its more then I expected really. I'll be on the forums watching you kids play considering obviously my requests weren't met, because it makes for interesting breaktimes between projects, but I won't be posting, and I won't be ingame until the community either improves, or weeds out certain people from the playerbase AND the staff, I refuse to name names.
Now flame me, I'll be sure to see it, and hey, I can't reply so go nuts
@Adano: No, I don't need a physcotherapist, sorry.
@Falco: No, I'm not a nice person. I'm a hatefull mean person. Who doesen't like you. Remember me as that.

It suffices to say that, I dissagree. You seem to have a broad vocabulary of adjectives that demean your own intelligence rather than concisely describing your opinion though, I'll give you that. I don't know your problems, but theres something causing you to take a game so seriously that you would intentionally try to hurt the people that participate in playing it by name calling. Think.

true facts really. the forums are crap. but they are optional to read. I usually stay away from the off-topic since so many peeps get offended.
and as for the game, it's a great game, but it's a non-profit thing and so they depend on volunteers. as the saying goes: if you get free tickets, don't complain about the show.
I personally think that you, like half the community, are taking the game too seriously. key word:game

Aye i did not read much of the the porn av thread but am saddened to see you go. Come now lad, do you remember a few years back when you and Grant threw a huge flame war? I myself was involved. I remember by the end you were flamed as was Grant big time. Come now lad we all get our bad days every now and again. This just happened to be yours. As Fooser said it would mean i too might have to get lost, i have been playing illa for almost as long as you, we are some of the few left, dont leave the rest of us oldies but goodies behiend.

No quest support? Are you even REMOTELY aware that there is a sizeable player quest group in existence that take
requests for events and activities. Private message Loralyn to have your voice heard, or if that's not good enough for you, private message another staff member that isn't an evil fiend.
its the fault of the completely annhilated community that WAS here.
You're blaming a disembodied non-entity? Who exactly is this mysterious community? You are aware that most of the people that you used to play with still play, still post and still get annoyed by you, just not in a guise that you might remember.
or weeds out certain people from the playerbase AND the staff
I'm sure that my name would be on that list, but as a matter of interest care to name any others? We try to improve constantly.

K I read only the first post here but here's what I think:
You should just make a new forum account and make new characters so you will, essentialy, be seen as a comepletely new person. Just dont tell anyone who you are. Just think of it as an identity change. If you don't want to go, then dont go. There are always ways around it if you look. If you did this there wouldnt be any welcome to overstay because nobody would have welcomed your new identity. THe only ones that would know would be the gms because you would be using the same account for your characters. If you were to get a whole new account then it would be untraceable. If nobody knows who you are then they can hardly burn you for what you've said in the past

I hope to see your characters (not knowing who is behind them) online again. Just become a new person that nobody knows anything about in everyone else's eyes if you really don't want to go like you say. Of course if you dont wish to do this then that's your choice, I'm not trying to force anything
