To all those who knows me, and don't... - The story of me, P

Name's Peggy, Peggy Komoshio.  I was just another teenage student in the 20th century.  Trying her best to make good grades to move on towards even more educations.  It was the day before the new century, I can still vaguely remember, December 31st, 1999.  A rather unusual dark, and stormy night.  Everyone in the family was out for celebration except for me.  I was not in the celebration mood.  So far it had been an awful year for me, marks dropped at least ten percent from last year.  I noted to myself that I must some how, no matter what, pull my grades up before the report cards were issued.  There I was, seating in front of my desk, reading slowly through my history textbook.  The rain was splashing, thunder roaring, and all the sudden, BAM, all the lights went out.  I looked around the house, all was quiet, and lights were still out.  I walked down the hall and stood beside the grandfather clock, staring at the piece of work created by nature.  The lighting stroked down the power line in front of my house.  "What a lucky shot, maybe I should get myself some lottery tickets..."  I humored myself.  Looked back inside the house, and there I was, alone in the dark, not a single thing to do.  I decided to go and find myself some candle, at least then I could move around the place without having to worry about tripping over.  In the dark, I slowly moved towards the stairs, looked at the time, and went down.

It took me a whole 10 minutes to find the candle and light it.  I slowly walked back up stairs covering the fire, hoping it wouldn't die on me.  Slowly, the dark gloomy hallway became bright from the candlelight.  Straight ahead, I see nothing but the grandfather clock, 10:45.  Just fifteen minutes until the new century.  Since I've got nothing else better to do, I decided to just look out the window, hoping that someone will come by to fix the power line.

Seconds turned into minutes, minutes turned into hours, I found myself in the dark, silence corner lit by the little candle I am holding in my hand.  All was silent other then the grandfather clock.

Tick
Tock
Tick
Tock

I turned around and look at the clock again, 10:55, asked myself,
"Who are you kidding? No one is going to come and fix the power line in this condition.  Everyone's probably downtown in some house club enjoying themselves, partying without me.  Just hit the sac and everything will be fine by tomorrow morning...  Everything will be fine in the morning..."
I quickly brushed up and got changed for bed, gave up all hopes for people to come and repair the power line.  Blew off my candle and went to bed.  It must've been quite energy consuming for me to study all night, I fall a sleep almost instantly.

*Riiiiiiiiinnnnnnnnng*
*Riiiiiinnnnnnnnnnnng*

"Urrg... What time is it?"  I said as I slowly walked out of my room. I looked down the hall and quickly found the grandfather clock - 11:45.  "Who'd call at this time of the night anyways?"  Scrambling in the dark, I manage to find the phone and matches. I lit my candle once again, and picked up the phone.

"Hello? Who is it?  Do you have any idea how late it is?"  I said, quite angrily as well.
"....", the other side was dead silent, not even a breathing sound.
Couldn't hold back my anger, I shouted into the phone "Hey, you just woke me up at 11:45 for this kind of prank call?  What kind of jerk are you anyways???"
"....", still, the dead silent, not a single sound.
I slam the receiver back down to the set, and turned around.  Just as I move the first step back towards my room, the phone rang again.  I stared at it for a second, and thought, "If I'm ever going to find out who this lifeless moron really is, I'd have to pick up the phone..."  So I turned back around, and picked up the receiver.

"Hello?", the receiver said...
It was a deep, slow, calm, and warm voice.  I seem to recognize that voice, yet can't picture it together with the person...
"Hello," I replied. "How may I help you?"
"Hello Peggy, it's me, Mr. Kemire.  Your history teacher.", he said.
"I called a bit earlier, but you sounded very angry and hung up on me before I could reply..."  he continues.

"So it was Mr. Kemire who called...  Maybe I shouldn't have been so mean earlier", I thought to myself.

"Hello Mr. Kemire, what make you call me at such late hour?"  I replied through the receiver.
"I noticed that your marks isn't as good as it was last year, and I can tell that you've been trying everything to try to pull it back up.", he said, "so I decided to give you a hand and help you out a bit."

I was awakened from half asleep instantly when I heard that.  "Did I really made it that obvious?", I thought to myself.

"Yes, my marks dropped drastically from last year.  Is it something that I'm not doing right?  How can I get help from you?" I replied to the phone.
"It's not what you're doing that's wrong, it's just that you are probably not the best student for my ways of teaching.  I usually prefer notes and text, but you, you are a hands-on type of person...", Mr. Kemire said.  After a brief of silence, he continues,
"Would you like to go on a field-trip?"
"Excuse me?!?"  I said. "A Field-trip?  You phoned me up at this hour to ask me if I would like to go to the museum?  Why didn't you just keep me after school to ask me that?"  I said.
"No, no, you've got me wrong.  You're not going to the museum...  Museum won't help you all that much...  I was thinking more like..."  said Mr. Kemire.
"More like what?  You know, I am pretty sure that you know the students aren't really not into boring trips..."
"...More like back in time..." He said.

At the split second when the words came out of the receiver, I was shocked. "But time traveling is not possible!  We don't have the technology to travel in time yet! Also, even if I do manage to go back in time, how would I get back???" I said, half panic, half excited.
Time traveling?  We've always thought Mr. Kemire is a little crazy when he teaches, but has he finally gone nuts?  Time traveling is just too much for even his standards...  I turned around and looked at the grandfather clock, 11:57.
"Time is against us, Peggy.  I don't have all the time to explain everything to you.  You must hurry and decide now, or forever regret this." He said.
I thought to myself, why don't I foolish this old teacher for some fun.  He's got to be drinking too much at the party, and said "sure, why not.  What's there to lose?"
As soon as those words got out of my mouth, lighting struck the power line that's already laying on my front yard.  I thought to myself, "but how?  Wasn’t I on the phone?"   The phone went dead once again.
"Hello?  Mr. Kemire? You there?"
What's going on?  What's happening here?  Wasn't I just on the phone with my history teacher?  Wasn't the power line down?  How was I talking to him then?  Questions quickly flooded my head, and before I know the answer to any of them, I notice the entire house begin to light up.  Slowly, from the first floor, slowly, each and every room became bright.   There I was, standing at the end of the hallway, looking, watching every single room on the hall to light up.  I looked around in confusion, noticing that the lights weren't turned on.  What's with this eerie light that's slowly coming towards me?  I looked at my watch, 11:59:38 PM Dec 31...

The light continued moving towards me, slowly, and swallowed me in all.  Slowly, around me, all I see is the light.  Furniture, grandfather clock, the phone, the walls, everything, slowly disappears from bottom up.  Yet I remain standing.  Slowly I notice my clothing was fading away, along with my watch...  New clothing appeared around me, medieval time clothing for a warrior lady.  I looked around, panic, wondering what is going on, and looked at my watch for the very last time.  11:59:59 PM Dec 31, and past out.

I must've been out for days before I heard of anything.  Slowly, I regain conscious, and heard a small, weak, little voice... "Time to wake up and enjoy your trip, Peggy.  I hope you find it interesting, oh and by the way, I'll be expecting a five pages essay on this... Now, wake up, wake up, wake up......"

I stood up, looked around, and here I am, standing in an old fashioned library.  Around me, all I see is rows and rows of book solve.  I was holding a hammer in my right hand, and carrying a shovel on my belt...  People told me that I've arrived in a place called Illarion, an illusion, and fantasy place...  They asked for my name, and I told them the first thing that came to mind, "I am Peace Keeper"...  I must've read too much about Canada peace keeping during war and major battles the night before I got here...

I told myself, my job here is going to be the peace keeper, and protect the innocent, restlessly, no matter under what condition...  At least until I can find Mr. Kemire, until I find Mr. Kemire.......  From that day forth, I was known as Peace Keeper...

Many years have pasted, I seldomly remembers the old times of future.  More and more I interact with people here, the more and more I realize that this is where I belong.  Every now and then I head to the river at night, seat beside a large rock and look upon the moon hanging in the sky.  Thinking of what's going to happen in the short future.  Yet remembers nothing in the books of this wonderful place - Illarion.
