k, I'm a bit confused on the money system. I hear people talking about silver coins and stuff but How much is a silver coin worth? Also are there actual silver coins or are they just a certain amount of coppers? If there are actual silver coins how do you get them?

there are actual silver coins

its 100 coppers = 1 silver coins.

Silver coins can be recieved from selling a large quantity of items to an npc, or thru buying and selling with players.

Thanks, also to buy things that cost silver coins can you just have 100 coppers instead? And with the large quantity of items did you mean selling stuff with a total worth of over 100 coppers?

It's 250 copper coins from what i've heard and collected with My uber Recon work, But don't hold me to it. It's just my recolection of the price.

No, they have no defined value. Gold coins will be replaced by nuggets if they haven't already been.

so, in other words, I just lost all my money for nuggets?

 is there some way to get a refund? and by the way, how and why did the gold coins come out, if they are just meant to be nuggets?

When gold coins become a currency, the current gold coins are ment to be replaced by something of value - like nuggets. Current plan is to make 1 gp=100 sp=10000 cp. Gold coins were given out as quest reward long ago when there were no plans what to do with them in future.

Currently, there are around 1100 gp, 4250 sp and 850.000 cp ingame. Thus, if the gp will remain ingame, the economy will be screwed. 1100x10000=11 millions or around ten times more than the current wealth of all characters in cp and sp.

wow 1 silver penny will be 10k copper coins. that is just ridiculous.

Edited on so not to sound like an ass too much:

Why not just stick with the silver coin and copper coin way we have now. I don't really see a reason to add another coin into the mix that is ridiculous amounts more then copper, in turn either making copper useless or making it nearly impossible to use without breaking and having to many copper left over. Or maybe just make the next coin twice as much as silver.. maybe 5 times at most.

There will be some changes. Then you will see the need for another coin :)

No your worthless coins will be turned into worthful nuggets needed by goldsmiths.

true, but I basicaly paid 1600 coppers for 8 nuggets. which would be turned into one ingot. which would probely make nothing due to the new sytem. so I threw away money. and that was like half my savings on my main char.

so I lose? I was doing the wrong thing at the wrong time so I just...lose? I hate to complain but there has to be something I can do to get my money back. and why not just make 1 gold equal 200, 250, or something like that why must there be a huge value on it?

There was never a value on them. Ask the char who took the money from yours for it back, thats all I can suggest.

Because there will be the need for such huge values. 10.000 cp will not be the same as 10.000 cp now. Chars will be able to earn more money but goods will be more expensive.

Poots, I hate to say it because I know how you feel, but: bad luck.

As far as i know you all got warned when Brer offered to change money into goldcoins. you all got warned that goldcoins will soon be nothing worth. Brer knew it. if he still did it, well..he cheated you, guys.

*double sigh* oh well...

if I may ask, what exactly is this important need for high valued gold coins?
and also someone long ago tried to buy a crwon from me, offered very little, but afterwards he also said basicaly the same thing would happend with crowns. I never gave him the low price eh wanted but was he right or was he just trying to cheat me? I don't think I know Brer, and if I do, I never heard his speech on gold coins.

I don't know but stop letting ooc game technics govern what your character is doing.

Did you want the gold coins or did your character want them?

Since they are worthless, your character got cheated....not you.

Let your character get revenge and his money back.

No..

It is a technical reason the money he invested is being changed from an actually currency he can trade around into nuggets. Perhaps we should instead make gold coins turn into gold ingots so at least part of their networth is returned instead of entirely cheating the owners of gold coins ?

That's an option, sure. Gold ingots, nuggets, however, gold coins will be wiped.

The need for gold coins will become obvious when your depots get stuffed by piles of silver coins in future. Gold coins will be the currency for the big boys who buy houses or artifatcs. Again: We will face an inflation, prices will rise. This step is mandatory to establish fair prices for all goods (no you get more for leather shoes than for a long sword-kind of crap).

Also, the resolution of the current currencies is not sufficient; a copper coin has a too high value, many goods are traded in the range of 1-10 copper coins - to compare with RL, this would mean you go to a supermarket and most goods you need for your living are sold for 1-10 cent. Now don't come up with Wal Mart ;-)

Wait a minute--Does this mean that those gold nuggets I mined a few months ago and never got rid of or used will make me uber rich? And are nuggets used as currency or will they be?

Preferring silver or copper coins over gold coins, or saying gold coins have no value is just stupid IC. If someone put 1 gold coin, 1 silver coin, and 1 copper coin in front of someone, they would takr the gold coin because gold is more valuable, and is a highly sought after metal over the others.

Perhaps, but silver is accually rarer by a huge amount due to the fact you can't mine it and you can only get a limited amount of the coins.

Cept for those people with 411 or so silver coins. Ya, those are really limited

No one person has 411 silver coins and also this could be used to denote 41,100 copper coins, I don't know how they got this kind of money, I have only heard rumors about it (not the cheater). I refuse to speculate however, copper ore and ingots and gold nuggets and ingots are still in fact way more abundant than silver coins. I would bet there are more nuggets worth of items than there are of silver coins even. A small gold item takes 5 nuggets minimum. Npc's have a limited amount of money they can give, therefore they are limited.
