~ A Farewell

Mairead was sitting at the field of Varshikar and watched her grain growing. It was already late in the afternoon and she should have walked home to study her books, but today she didn't want to. No, today she would just be doing what she enjoys. That of course didn't mean that Mairead doesn't enjoy reading, but has she done anything else the days before?
The girl layed back in the grass and closed her eyes as the sun was shining in her face. She enjoyed the warmth of this midsummer day and the scent from her grain and her thoughts began travelling.
Tomorrow was the day she was so afraid of. Tomorrow she should be leaving. And all this – the wellknown mountains of Varshikar, the desert so close, Trolls Bane with all its inhabitants – all that she would leave behind her.
Mairead rolled onto her stomach and laid her head onto her arms.
„I don't feel ready yet to leave“, she thought. „But I guess no one ever does. We tend to stick with what is known to us and with what we love. I do.“
Time heals all wounds. Or at least the most. And on a sunny day like this, Mairead dared to think back into the past. So many things that occured confusing and paining to her, were now so clear and far away, as if that all hasn't happened to her. Well, in some way it really hasn't.
She blinked over to her grain. „We always grow. No matter if the sun is drying us out or the rain is drowning us. And even if our leaves die, our roots will never and we will go on growing. There is no death.“ The girls eyes closed again. It all had a reason and a purpose, Mairead knew that much. The gods were never looking away. She has been given a second chance and her past shouldn't matter anymore to her, but she couldn't deny it. Or forget about it. It was a part of her and even now it took effect and formed her being and her path.
As Mairead rolled back onto her back to face the sun, she sticked her hand into her pocket and played with a ring within.
She would miss her daddy and her mom and Adrian and Fiora. She would miss Taylor and Chak, Rhiannon, Allura, Shandariel and Dei, Farel, Berengar, Mephistus and Callith...
But she had a task, a fate – and she would face it.
„No crying.“, she said to herself. „You are no little girl anymore and it is not forever. Maybe for a few months... maybe for one or two years.“
A sigh escaped her lips, but then she smiled.
This wasn't the end of a travel, it was a beginning...
She had everything ahead of her.
As she stood up to walk back to Varshikar, to pack her things and to make sure to say goodbye to everyone, ... she pulled her hand out of her pocket and examined the two golden Ring which she had carried with her. Both had the same gravure.
