another Idea of mine

yeah I know this would take graphics and everything but I think it would be worth it: Dice
just make it say two (or one) random numbers to everyone around it, like an instrument
this could promote gambling and other cool things
and if you wanted to go further, you could make loaded dice but that would take some thinking, and could be just like the lockpick, everyone gets them

Nice idea, easy to implement... I immagine it gives out a message like PERSON: THE DICE SHOWS 6
However would be too open to cheating... saying the words yourself..
Still nice idea..

thats why I don't like the idea of loaded dice too much, Unless you rp the cheating

CHAR: The dice shows 4
(Doesn't roll the dice and says it instead)
Unless the gms can find another way, for example creating an item in the road in front of him, example a box which when clicked shows "6"
AND Forcing #me rolls the dice when the person does so
SO you 'see' him roll the dice, and the dice changes number as an item; which can be shown...

Actually, it is very easy to script an item in the way that if you use it it dissapears from your inventory, is dropped on the tile infront of you and shows a random number if you click on it. No cheating possible this way I guess.
Nice idea, I know something similar from other games; there, the dices are used to determine who gets the cool loot of the uber boss.

Yay! gamemaster likes it!
a couple of flaws, but I think it would work, if someone were to care about it enough to make graphics and it's easy to program.

i like this idea, I just want to know how it would be used, would there be like gambling in taverns or something or can you just HAVE the dice and play it with your friends?

does there have to be limits?
I think gambling should be implemented, and this is the best way. I don't see much fun in throwing a dice around with your friends....unless money is involved

What is the dice made of? Would it be a super specialized gem cutting? Carpentry? Just curious...sounds like fun to me!!

Why not allow multiple craftsman types to make it? You could make gem-cut dice (emerald dice, diamond dice, etc.) which would require incredible gem-cutting skill, or you could make wooden dice, which would be a fairly simple carpentry skill (carve out small divets in the wood for holes, cut the wood into a cube shape, etc.). Or, you could even make glass dice (low durability value, incredibly high glassblowing skill to make). Doing so (implementing dice in multiple crafting skills) adds variety and also works to promote the new would-be feature. For actually rolling the dice, the scripting would be pretty much the same, I think. However, the glass dice might have less "uses" before breaking perhaps?

I like Cains Ideas, especially the gemmed dice, that would be cool. differant types is a good idea
if your going to allow them to break, they better have a ton of uses before they do. who wants glass dice, if they work the same way, yet break more easily, and take alot of skill to make? maybey they shouldn't break at all. maybey only the expensive oines don't break, like the gemmed ones.

Since glass dice are so fragile (and since glassblowing anything into a squarish object would be incredibly difficult), glass dice would simply be much more valuable, and thus perhaps not as likely to be used by people other than those who have money to 'throw around' (pun definitely intended). Gemmed dice would be valuable as well, due to the fact they are crafted from gems, which adds greatly to their durability. I think that dice made from gems would be the most valuable, both due to rarity and due to resilience. Wooden dice would have average "breakability" and would likely be the most commonly used in gambling. Of course, this all depends on how it is RPed. For now, let's concentrate on the out of character side that must be addressed first.

I think gemmed dice would be more of a goldsmithing skill, otherwise, you would have to bring up a menu when cutting gems and stuff. plus it just sounds to me like a goldsmithing skill.
what do you mean the out of character side?

Gem-cutting is a skill still, isn't it?
Out of character side.. the technical side. Graphics, scripting, feature planning (menu setup, which skills will allow you to make which dice, etc.).

it's a skill, but you just shift click the gem and the cutter. if it made dice, you would have to make a menu and stuff, and I don't think you can cut dice. are you thinking like the entire dice is a gem, or just the numbers?
I'm not to good with computers, so I can't make the graphics, and I have no idea about programming, sorry.

Make it a menued skill then. I really don't see why not, when we have so many options to work with from that. Each individual die would be carved out of each gem. Or... a menu list could have something like... "Dice set - Emerald and Topaz" or "Dice set - Diamond and ruby." Graphics of the dice could be made and once a general template for the pair of dice was made, it would be very easy to change the colours to match gem-dice with different ones.

I was just trying to keep this a simple as possible, since I'm not really doing an of the work. if you really want to make it a menued skill, we could. I personally think that goldsmithing it would be better.
