New client: Bluescreen

When i go to install it on my pc (Geforce 6600gt, 2.8 ghx p4 processor, 768 mb of memory, in case you need stats), it gets to the point of the java webstart then freezes my pc with a blue screen of death, blaming it on the display drriver, saying it was in infinite loop.
During the testing phase, nobody encountered any bluescreens, so it's a good guess the issue is with your machine.

What exactly is the last dialog you see and the last action you take?

Im having 2 seperate problems now, on diff comps, so i doubt its my hardware.

On comp 1, i am not admin, though installation was attempted via admin, after running the installation program, it goes through to where it launches java, then the java window grays, and the computer hangs, freezes, and eventually blue screens. This pc uses an Nvidia GEforce 6600GT, 2.8 ghz P4, 768mb of Pc2700 RAM. it said something about the display driver entering an infinite loop.

On PC 2, it runs java, and I had the client working via play on the menu on the site, but after closing it, my computer hung, froze, and blue screened. This Pc uses an Nvidia Geforce FX5900, 2.8 ghz P4, and 1.25 gigs of pc2700 RAM. Same bluescreen as above.

In the general forum you made a comment that sounded like you could play the client now.

Did you get your bluescreen solved?

Well, as you are the only person concerned, it must be something local.

Are you using the same Java installation as the other people?
Have you checked alternate drivers?

A good place to find out about supported graphics cards and drivers is here:

der Client läßt regelmäßig mein System mit einem Blauen Bildschirm aufwarten, auf dem steht.

Gerätetreiber in Endlosschleife.

technische Information:
*** Stop: 0x000000EA (0x822F2020, 0x823AB8F8, 0x8267E438, 0x00000001)
G400HD

Ich habe einen PIII mit Matrox Millenium G550 unter Win XP SP1.

Ich möchte betonen, daß nur Illa das System abstürzen läßt. Leider habe ich schon den neuesten Grafiktreiber den es noch gibt installiert.

As the error message clearly states: The problem is with the graphics driver. A program couldn't even provoke that error if it tried. Maybe other programs just don't use the faulty function in question.

Best advice is to look for an alternate version of the driver.
Second advice is wait a little, there is an update of the client's graphics lib coming up.
Third, play with the graphics settings (disable texture updates maybe) and hope it goes away. :-)

tried texture updates, no help, tried gfx quality low, no help, tried using old beta drivers, no help. not sure what else would cause an infinite loop.

Try the new version.

You shouldn't ever use beta drivers. Just use OLDER drivers, not older beta drivers.

Hmm.....What kind of a videocard did you have again? Because some people with older video cards might benefit from installing DirectX 7. It worked on my older computer.

Geforce FX5900, nothing special, but 10 times better than what most people here have. It isnt more than 2 or 3 years old, and directx 9 is at least that old, im sure.

EDIT: and even if the FX5900 was old enough, the pc that has the worse problem (wont even run the client) uses a Geforce 6600gt, which is maybe 1 year old?

Get in touch with Misjbar and compare your system and driver versions. He is running a 6600GT without any problems.
