Bank of Trollsbane

Post by Cliu Beothach »

The Bank Of Trollsbane

As the Bank of Trollsbane, and moreso the only bank on the island, we are here to provide you with a special service. Quality Banking is why we were made. You are our biggest priority. Our services extend to conversions, loans, and deposits.

We now buy and sell gold ingots
*Look in coversions*

Conversions

Here are the Conversions of coins and their rates.

Copper (100) > Silver (1); Rate is 10% for small Conversions.

For larger conversions (1000+ copper), the rate is lowered to 7%.

Copper (138) > Gold Ingots (1); Rate is 10%.

Deposits

For Small Deposits, a gain of 1% every three weeks ((1 RL week)). Deposits depend on the situation. For a one person deposit, usually 2000+ copper will constiture a large deposit. Guild deposits are different.

For Large Deposits, a gain of 2% every three weeks ((1 RL week)).

If deposits are exceedingly large, we can discuss a fair term for our customer.

Note: Weekly increases are determined on initial deposits. To increase the interest, you must deposit atleast 100 copper more. Interest will not raise itself.

Loans

Loan rates are as followed:

Small Loans are a 10% gain every three weeks ((1 RL week)), if you can pay back the loan in the first three weeks, then you will only be charged a 7% increase.

For large loans, a 7% gain every three weeks ((1 RL week), if you can pay back the loan in the first three weeks, then you will only be charged a 5% increase.

Large and small loans will be decided on terms. Meaning the amount of money wanted and what it will be used for.

When you become a valued customer and are deemed responsible, more leeway will be given for loans.

Rules for Loans:
In order to obtain a loan you must have one (preferably two or more) to verify your indentity. Upon identity and a request for the amount of money needed *AND* reasons for this money, we will decide if you will be granted this loan. Collateral in form of items is a plus, any collateral will be deposited in a depot and never to be touched again until you pay back the loan.

Constant, responsible users of the bank will be more likely to gain loans and it is best to start out with small loans unless you have a need for a large one (IE: Guilds, Towns, Cities, or large entities consisting of a community).

If you refuse to pay debt, it will work in conjuction with trollsbane's laws.

*If you are interested in becoming part of this bank, send me a dove. The members will see how you can help.

**Rates may change WITH notice. These are new rates and some adjustment may be needed. All loans and deposits made PRIOR to the changes will not be effected for the first time installment.

Brer is a very wise man in the ways of money and economics. He is also very responsible, and your money is safe with him. I will even put an amount of my personal savings with him, this is a good resource for all!

Thank you Stephen Rothman. A man who deserves respect, indeed. This seems to be going much better than I expected it to start off. We can meet whenever you are ready.

I have already taken a loan, as you know, and expect to have it paid back by the 3 weeks time. I already have about 5% of it (if you include 3 weeks of interest), and expect to gain more of it quickly. Thank you again.

P.S. If you wish, you may dov eme about terms of some collateral, though it....might be a bit messy, to say the least.

((i would like to congratulate you all on making this still a fine MEDIEVAL game with interest rates and loans, hey why not make morgages and VAT on items bought and even flexible all purpose loans that you can 'do the house up with'. congratulations the medieval characters have such a fast mental capacity that they can think of clerks and interests rates just like that!))

((this thought is not too farfetched ;) These priciples did already exist in medieval times and loaning money was nothing spectacular.))

((and in fact, the ability to read and write is a bit of a crutch. In cultures where reading and writing is rare or non-existant, there often is still primitive banking systems. Of course, we should expect as much. While we enjoy reading the works of Homer, there was once a time where it was only told by memory.

In other words, it's very possible that Brer could run his bank on a minimum of paperwork, or even no paperwork at all. Mathematics, in some form or another, has existed as long as man has had fingers.

I wouldn't even blame him if he started printing paper money. I can imagine that royalty and high-ranking merchants did so centuries before your average citizen did such a thing; gold is heavy, afterall, in large sums.))

((money (paper money) has been around since there was "flying cash" in the Islamic empire areas ever since let me see....first few centuries a.d. i believe and as for paper (invented by the chinese) would have to be older than paper money at least so..there you go..))

Finally, I made a change in Deposit increases. It is now 1 and 2 percent.

These will not be enforced until the next three weeks ((1 RL week)). Until then, the 2 and 3 percent increase remains the same. We changed the deposit interest instead of the Loan because you will still make money by simply putting it in our bank.

As the new Gold Ingot takes affect, the interest may rise back up again.

I am glad to see such an institution on this isle. I will be using it soon, and hopefully often. I have silvers to exchange and gold ingots to sell.

I'm thinking about deposing some money in your bank, Brer.
How can I be sure you won't just grab all the coppers and leave the island once enough people have trusted you?

Because I like to think of myself as a man of honor. How can I trust that people who take loans won't just run off?

It is a mutual trust.

In response to our new Gold ingot venture, these will replace gold coins. Once we get some more ingots in circulation, these will replace gold coins.

Conversions have moved back to normal.

Do you do trading. I have lots of coppers which I'd prefer in silvers. I had to buy loads of bags at Greenbriar to store coppers in. Oh and can I have a loan of -200 copper at 150% compound interest daily? I assume not; but it's worth a try.

Due to the loss of Fooserdom, and the unstable nature of Trollsbane at the moment, we have relocated to Varshikar. All deposits and loans still stand. You can find me up north or sometimes in Trollsbane if business calls me there.
