What happenes to your old account when the new client comes out. Will they transfer everything or will you have to start over?

Or you can install the new client into the old folder. Same effect really.

Nothing will happen, just a new client. The other posts describe how to avoid the loss of names.
Nothing will be transfered because there is nothing to transfer; your character is not stored locally in the client, but on the server (database). The database needs an overhaul, but this won't cause any new charwipe.

Really? i've heard that upon downloading the old client, ancient magic will be cast, causing monsters to spawn from one's closet.

No no, that happens if you download printable weed.
