Just a question regarding the newclient...

Would it be possible to run an older client whislt everyone else is using a newer one?

I know that the devs make it impossible to do so, but the question is.. why?

If the client only supplies the graphics and sound and simple an interface, would it be possible technically? WOuld newer items appear simply as [] < grey box; or would it simple crash?

I'm asking this because all those who have a computer with specs similar to mine will find huge problems with it....

The new client allows for updates each time you start it. Also, there would be grahpics you cannot see, that you may need to in order to play.....

You can reduce the resolution and fps... my computer supports it, but it didn't at first.

The old client won't be supported any longer because of incompatibilty. And we won't work on the old client any more either because the new client was created for better update / readability possibilities.

1.1 Hardware
It is highly recommended to use a 3D graphics adapter with at least 32 MB of graphics
memory, a reasonably fast CPU (not tested below 500 MHz) and about 200 MB of hard
disk space. The client has also been seen to run on older machines with less graphic
memory, however you will need to turn off some graphic features.
1.2 Software
This software is based on Java, therefore the Java Runtime Environment (version 1.5-X or
above) with installed webstart functionality is mandatory. Furthermore, openGL 1.1 or
above plus the additional openGL graphics card drivers have to be installed.
The client should be able to run on any operating system that supports Java in the required
version. It was tested for Windows but it should also run on unix-like (linux etc.) systems
as well.
Java Runtime Environment (jre) can be obtained from this location:
Windows:

For viewing this Manual, you will also need to have a working version of Acrobat Reader
installed.
 The client might run on old maschines, using reduced features. Trust me, you won't feel any major difference when turning off most "hungry" features.

The current client is cr*p (wasn't really being worked on since 2001). Any second invested into it is wasted.

Tricky. Chances are bad it will run on that. But you have to try. The biggest problem is old graphics card drivers.
