When I was creating a character, I didn't know what to choose, so I put a load of it into Intelligence. Do you really need it?

Uh it's races to. If your an orc then you probally wnat willpower and strength up. But with a elf, Human etc.. you meant want that up more then a orc persay.

Its the attributes that matter for a class, not the race. Though they do have different max and min values, its still pretty much the same. Race isn't a big deal. Else all magicians would be elves, and all fighters orc.

Some races are better at certain things, no idea what they are, but I'd bet orcs aren't as skilled as halflings at farming for example.

sure not.... if you don't want extrem abilitys you can play every class in every race, a fast and agil halfling can be a much better fighter as an slow brutal orc..... and a strong orc can fram a much greater land as a weak halfling....
