Ich bin sicher, viele von euch haben Bemerkt, das ins 98% der Bücher nicht viel steht, dass überhaupt nicht mehr richtig ist.
Es geht nun darum, dass jene Bücher neu geschrieben werden sollen. Auch besteht die Möglichkeit noch leere Bücher zu füllen.
Als Beispiel will ich einige der Texte die dem von Faladron ausgerufenem Wettbewerb, in einem solchen Buch veröffendlichen.
Nun hoffe ich auf euch, die Spieler, das ein paar Texte verfasst werden. Vor allem das die Texte an das aktuelle Geschehen angepasst werden.
Der Char, aus dessen Sicht ihr das Buch schreibt, findet Namendliche Erwähnung in dem Buch.
Wer also eine Idee hat, kann dies gern per PN zu mir schicken. Wer einen neuen Text für eines der Exsistierenden Bücher geschrieben hat, kann dies auch hier anbringen.
Zu erwähnen ist, dass wir pro Seite höchtens 200 Buchstaben unterbringen. Und auf jeder Seite kann ein Item Angezeigt werden, wenn dies dem Inhalt des Buches dient.
Außerdem könnte ich dann noch jemanden brauchen, der die Texte richtig übersetzt. Freiwillige?
Wenn es irgendwelche Fragen gibt, die alle die etwas schreiben wollen, betreffen. Stellt sie hier.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I'm sure, many of you notices, that around 98% of the books have almost nothing or wrong things written into them.
We want to write the books new. We can even fill empty books with new texts. As an example, I want to take the texts of Faladron's contest.
I hope, you players will write texts, that are up to date. The char, that writes the book is named inside.
If you got an idea of a book, write me a PM. If you want to write a new text for existing books, send it to me, also.
One site can hold max. 200 letters, and an item-picture.
Also, I need people to translate the texts. Volunteers?
If there are any questions importaint for everyone who wants to write a book, ask there here.
Could you explain this further? Like, how many sides are you allowed, what do you mean by itempicture?
Item picture means , when in your story , a sword ,is an important weapon,
who killed a lich , or you need the sword for a ritual to create a new lich,
than you can say....i want this sword (better you write the name of the sword
or say how the sword looks) , on this side , with this text on this side.
I hope my english is good enough for explain
Well....It ain't
Can anyone else explain?
You can put a picture in with the text. Take this made up book called "Swords for brain dead orcs"
<Picture of a sword>
This is a sword. You hold it by the bit that isn't sharp and/or pointy, and you put the sharp/pointy end into whatever you want to die.
Ok....second attempt.
If you open a book, you have 2 sides.
In this case , on one side stands your text and on the second side is shown
your selected item.
Better explain?
Donal is a little wrong.
You have a book pricture with two pages shown.
On the left page you have some text. 200 letters maximum.
On the other page you have free page, where you can show the picture of an item.
The books support 250 pages.
So...
Are we writing entire books, or just pages of them?
Im confused, is this for the new client? Will we have an actual graphical representation of an open book?
Posted: Mon Jan 23, 2006 6:14 pm
by Nitram
Its for the new client. Yes. And you will really have an open book visible on the screen.
And i would like, if you write, whole books about a topic
by Nalzaxx
Does the topic have to conform strictly into what is technically capable in the illarion system?
For example if I wanted to write a book about sorcery and ritual magic, which, would fit in the world of illarion, but not actually be technically possible? As a theoretical and academic excercise for players and characters alike?
And does this mean our upmost limit is 25000 words and 125 pictures?
You can right a load of utter bull if you want. Your CHARACTER can say it's fact, but it doesn't really mean it is fact.
erm.
1 page = 1 picture + 200
letters
250 pages = 250 pictures + 50000 letters
Be carefull what you say Donal. Some people tend to disagree about this manner, which I am really sad about. Though it should be like that, ofcourse.
And Nitram, 50000 letters is still very nice. I am looking forward to writing.
Furthermore, the word you wanted to use is "write", damn things all sound alike.
Looks like some people will create bards pretty soon to be authors of some in-game literature (myself included, maybe?).
The books should not contradict the game mechanics or the world background. They are intended as a nice IG way to learn about the world and find hints on what's possible.
So, no, there shouldn't be creative garbage in them.
How about the rituals as Nalzaxx asked?
Nop... this is such a great thing I think and a real treat for the players, thank you and the others for yet another great new game feature.
When you say 'So, no, there shouldn't be creative garbage in them.' unless they are one of the stories entered into Faladron story and poem competition? Are the winners or all of them going into the new game books?
I don't know. Depends on the amount of text ^^
Books about the world or how things work will be helpful to the players. That is good.
Books about stories, poems, history and fantastic stuff are entertaining. That is good.
Books telling about things that are not possible or conflict with the existing game background just confuse the players. How are you to tell what's there to help you and what's garbage? People will try it, and try it again and again and nothing happens until they give up. That's very frustrating. About what the olds books were like before I got annoyed and scripted the things described in the books so they work.
Just imagine you put into a book that undead are afraid of life root. So people will try getting one and walk right among the skeletons. Especially beginners who'll be killed right away. Really great game experience. Always keep in mind that paper and parchment is very expensive, writing is an art only the most educated have perfected and every copy of a book must be created by hand. Nobody will spend that amount of effort for bulls****ing people.
There should always be something that can work at the core of things. You can make up as much decoration around it, but there should be something there worth experimenting with. Or it should be very clear that the book is literature or history or that the contents are impossible. I guess there is no harm describing your ritual if the circumstances/ingredients are obviously impossible to get in Ilarion.
RE: pages: do we try to use the max of them? or if we can just shove it all into one page.....
For example if your talking about different kinds of sometihng, do you use one something /page?
Your choice. But with the limit of 200 (maybe 220 at most) letters per page it won't be easy to talk about several things.
