CHAPTER ONE: ORTEGA
The messenger ran down the street. "Ortega has a new baby boy!" He gasped.
Everyone in Aliahan greeted the newborn with open arms.
This is the start of the legend... of Erdrick.
One fateful night, the Demon Lord came to bring destruction to the now peaceful world. Many knew of his name. Although noone spoke it, he was Evil King Baramos. Knowing the world was at stake, the King of Aliahan called Ortega to his throne room.
"Oh, great Ortega, We have word of thy quest. You must defeat Baramos before it is too late. You must set out by dawn tomorrow. Say your goodbyes and may the gods light your way. You are dismissed..."
The few townspeople that heard of Ortega's quest told the town blacksmith of his journey.
By midnight, there was a knock at the door.
"We have come to say goodbye to Ortega..." the trio said.
As they walked in they saw Ortega sitting in a chair, depressed.
"We have brought this to you, Ortega, to remind you of us and to aid you in your travels."
They set down a golden helmet on the table. It had demon horns on it and it was sized perfectly for the hero. It was undoubtedly the most powerful peice of equipment in the world.
So, as Ortega set walked out of town before all was awake, he took one last look at his child's window...then walked out into the fields.
Over bridges, through tall towers, into dark dungeons... he fought many monsters.
He walked into one cave, however... He had to face a giant blue demon, one of the Demon Lord's apprentices.
He dragged himself out of the cave, mortally wounded, and crawled into the nearest town.
Here he was nursed back to health by the townspeople. To show his thanks, he gave them him his helmet he was given by his beloved friends.
He set out once more, became a spellcaster and learned many frightful spells.
His journey stopped at a massive volcana. The Giana Pit.
Here he met his most worthy adversary, the Giana Dragon.
Many said he fought to a bitter end. Some say he fell into the maw of a volcano.
As the king heard word of this tragedy, he pronounced Ortega to be dead.
As he pondered about how the carnage would end, he glanced over at the little boy.
He looked very sad... with his spiky hair drooping down and holding his mother's hand.
Then the boy looked up and saw a light. Suddenly he became aware of his purpose in life.
To defeat the Demon Lord Baramos and to avenge his father's demise!
