Is it possible to play a theif in the current client, without the theif skills? If so, how?

Ignore that first post please. You just RP sneaking up to them, or RP 'accidently" walking into them and then quickly snatching their bag of shinies, or whatever your imagination might throw at you. How to become a robber
1) FInd a target and ask him in OOC to rob him please...
2) Rp your actions, DO NOT use the stupid #me runs and grabs, he has 18 agility and XX perception
3) If the other person RPs well, he will try to look for a bug, without being superhuman, #me inserts his hand into the pocket; #him wags his tail (yes lizard) and hits the hand "oopsss sssorry"
4) The other person will drop whatever on the floor, and you pick it up with Rped descretion.
5) Be polite and kind
6) If you get caught.. run!

why do this? he wold know you are a thief already.
he wold avoid since that is been told even if his char doesent know.
just act like it and when theres some good #meing involved all will be well.

People use OOC knowledge all the time. It's hard for GMs to prove it though.

I've had 2 robbery attempts on my characters that come to mind easily. The first was on Arynne Halfmoon, and I let the robber get away with it. The second was on Devrah Liioness while she was a town guard, and obviously, she didn't give him anything. So, it depends on the character you rob... Look for a character that is RP'd as meek or foolish, I'd say. Then it all falls down to whether or not the RP'er will play along.

Markous is right, playing a thief is not possible.
You may find one or two victims a month but nothing more.
You can do a lot with rp, but not everything, and since the game doesn't provide any thief functions better let it be.

only true hardcore RPers will actualy get robbed
i had four people try to rob me that i can remember
The first got away with a few coins.(i was poor back then ^^)
The second tried to force items off me and killed me.
The third tried to force items off me also and i killed him.
The fourth time she was reaching for my belt ,but she dint go through and just continued to talk to me for a while and left.

I've seen some small examples of thieves who were so entertaining in their thievery descriptions that they made some money. Cliu, for example, was so good with one of his characters that when I would see him coming I would go to my depot to make sure I'm carrying lots of currency. =)
