A question for a GM on a character concep[GMs Only Please!]
I have a character concept I would like to use: A female quickling. A quickling is an extremely thin, extremely light, extremely fast, and extremely motormouthy being that usually lives in very small spaces. I would appreciate it if a GM could give me a yes or no answer, as I'm going to request it tonight, but only use it if a GM gives me an answer in this post. Any other replies will not matter (Not to be rude or anything, but I only want a GM to answer this.). And after a GM gives me an answer, I would like this thread to be locked.

Just remembering a similar incident. A few years ago, there was a spate of players who would play all sorts of makey-uppy character races and types that were not accomodated by the Illarion history or the Illarion client. These players were then told by Damien that they could continue playing these character types, but only under the caveat that they were playing people who believed that they were vampire/werewolf/quickling, in other words, that these people were insane. That's the only possible way that you could play this "quickling."
Having said that however, I feel that other players will not be very accomodating towards this type of roleplay, and you're quite likely to encounter OOC moaning and griping. Best let it go.

Yes.. i received a LOT of complaints about power-emotes in these times. Not to mention the lot of player complaints about improper roleplay. And all the questions if vampires exist in illarion background. And just more complaints and questions of which i wondered why the hell they sent it to rp_requests at all...

Thanks for all of the input. I actually got another idea for a character. She, however, is from one of the lands I have created. I have already done that for several characters. Raina Tiwele, Emily Thorowitz, and Goom all come from Marasad, a rather large island quite a ways away from Gobaith. Raina is from the forest village of Kirdes, Emily is from the ruined coastal city of Marduk, and Goom is from the Noepar Mountains northwest of Marduk.
The next character, Clover Amberstone, is from the island nation of Antoz. She hails from the rural town known as Bramblebush. The people of Antoz, by the way, only grow at the most to four feet tall, and have antennae that usually look like two pieces of hair that are sticking up. Many of them look like kids, and they all live in harmony with nature there. (Note: Clover "counts" as a human, and all of the cities of Antoz have names like "Bramblebush", even though there are no halflings, dwarves, elves, orcs or lizards there. Heck, there aren't even regular humans there. Just thought you should know.)
Oh, and I have a few ideas for new races as well. As soon as I get them organized, I may post them somewhere...

Perhaps you should have a look at the official information page for Illarion and read the history and information on the races.
http://www.moonsilver.de/english/news/news.htm
I am not a GM so I am steering clear of saying yay or nay, but in essence Pendar would look at your character and go Oh my god mutant, demon, abomination or at best find it more than weird.
Simply as the lands of Illarion including the main land do not have such races. With all due medieval religious zeal Pendar is pretty sure if it’s not made by the Gods it can’t be any good.
It is my understanding people are strongly advised to play one of our 5 races to maintain consistency in the game world.
You are not alone though many players have attempted to make characters human or otherwise with some very strange attributes. You are simply showing the good sense to ask before going ahead and doing it. I can only add that I have seldom seen extra ordinary characters or incredibly strange ones become satisfying RP experiences for there players in the long run. Especially before being fully at home and familiar with the game and strange idiosyncrasies of our style of play, all the best which ever you choose.

Just three points I wanted to mention that wasn't something already mentioned here:
1- You could always play a character who thinks he/she is of this "quickling" race. Of course, the roleplay involved would mostly include scurrying about at very... "mortal" speeds, and being in denial that everyone else is able to follow your "speedy" movements. He he he.
2- There is always the possibility of setting your agility stat to 84 (or whichever max race stat), and killing everything else to 0. Stat imbalance? I think so.
3- My last note. Please stop being so hasty to reveal each new character you are planning to create. To tell you honestly, I personally see this beginning to leech some of fun out of it, or otherwise already has. Nobody cares to know. Not that much. You can easily play any of your characters without trying desperately to give the entire community a heads-up warning about the player behind that character. It is no one's fault at all, but naturally, most players will react and roleplay differently after having this kind of OOC influence. And often, not for the better either. Trust us. It's definitely not the better kind of roleplay to be forced to expect. Get rid of limiting yourself.

Thanks Rinya!
Thanks Rinya; that's the best advice in this topic! I think I'll stay anonymouse for now. Oh and I have checked at Moonsilver. I just want to make things even more interesting. Besides, I want to try something. And the game doesn't limit professions, so why should it limit races. I do have some ideas for new ones after all. I might even demonstrate a few in game sometime. The first one... well that shall be a secret!
Jikken, you wrote:And the game doesn't limit professions, so why should it limit races. I do have some ideas for new ones after all. I might even demonstrate a few in game sometime.

Please read the topic, Jikken! You can't make new races that are not accomodated by either client or history!

Geez, you can ruin a good mood...And I just created a new character that is one of those races...Not deleting her though...Unless if you listen to some of my new ideas (non-race related, I can see that everyone hates those ideas...And my new ideas are good and possibly possible.)
And I did read the topic!

Once again i am not a GM but your response implies the answer you have received has left you unsatisfied.
So let me explain
Races not accommodated by illarion cannot be played for numerous reasons firstly there are no graphics for them so I will not always know what your character looks like.
Sure you can #me it but one #me a minute i may still miss it. More over it will crowd the screen and leave you with little time to type actual rp.
Next most special races are so because they have some special power.
Now the staff cannot watch rp 24/7 and know who is able to role play such in a way that adds to the game and who cannot. More over how ever wonderful your rp why should you be allowed and I am not...
I play another rp game where i play a vampire you know what its a kick ass character and concept i would love to play it in Illarion. Not going to happen...simply there are free form role-playing games out there this is not one.
Illarion is a well crafted world with its own history and culture all detailed and set out. We enter Illarion and for some hours a day live our Illarion life.
Until the story team says so and it is created....
werecat...quickling...vampire...sorry you simply do not exist.

See, Dei is the quickest person in game, but there is a reason for this; It goes as such:
Dei has been training as an Assassin sine he was 7(he's 24 now), He does odd routines to enhance his speed, and dexterity(both which are maxed
). He also trains his dagger handleing skills. Since he has done this his whole life, He can move daggers faster than the eye and Move so fast he seems to disapear. He is not a quickling, he is a Serinjah.
This is a way to RP that your fast, all though i still do move around at "mortal speeds" since the GM's don't give me 250 Agi

Now why would GM's answering your question make you "depressed and annoyed"?Some one please lock this topic, I am getting both depressed and annoyed... Although it and myself apparently don't matter...
Illarion has its background, with set races. You have been told this several times. Deal with it.
