I have a real quick question. I have searched the site and the forums, and I know I have seen it, but what real life time is illarion based on? If I remember correctly, it was 14th or 15th century. I am sorry for asking but I cannot seem to find it again.
Thank you

Illarion equals no special time on earth. One could argue that things like spinning wheels and scythes were not known before that time (at least in europe), but other things are not developed yet (gunpowder, clocks).

I guess Damien can elucidate.

What you call medieval times in history is a wide range of years.
The early medieval times began with the fall of the west roman empire, the period of wandering tribes in europe about 400-500.
The high medieval times are the time of the crusades, about 1000 to 1200.
And the late medieval times are from 1200 to 1450. The epoche of the renassaince and humanismen marks the border to the "Neuzeit" (maybe "modern times" in english).
It is the change in the thinking, where the individium and not the collective stands in the middle, which marks the border between mediaval times and "Neuzeit".

Tech wise I'd say Illarion 1000-1600. Mettalurgical knowlage is hightend by the dwarves, and pretty much everything else by the elves and their long life. Medicine (potions) is considerably advanced it seems.
