Do we have glasses in Illarion?
I feel like a newbie again! Utilizing the newbie board FTW!
EDIT
Like, glasses to improve your eyesight.

Sian asked this a few months back and I believe we deduced that it was possible, as we have glassblowers anyway. They probably wouldn't have glasses to make perfect vision, but they'd have something.

Even if we don't have ones that improve vision, we can have a character who wears them just because they looks nice.

Thank you all. And yesh Hadrian, I knew that, but since Illarion is not real life, it depends on some other factors.

We can assume that elves having such long lives would be able to master the skill of glass blowing to such a degree that they could make glasses that infact helped vision. Binoculars I suppose would be possible.

Don't ruin it for the rest of us! OMG! >.>
Anyway, yeah, with the longevity of elves, I would find it highly unlikely that they would not be able to develop some sort of sight correction lense. I would even go so far as to say that some form of magic could be involved as well.

My elf needs them. He does not exactly have the highest perception.

I would also like them at roleplayed accessory for mages. a mage with glasses is more cool

hrmmm only a good idea if they are expensive and broken often (especially if someone attack you), otherwise no one will give anymor points to perceptionen by character creation.....
...and sure you cant wear a helmet with glasses....

It is about the RP Dji, not about an item.

Remeber perception is also hearing... so...
Myself... I used to have a 'rather blind' lizard [had just come fresh out of the water] who insisted on sniffing anything that crossed its path. (:P)
Lenses... well I'm not sure that personal glasses... Lenses were used in telescopes mostly.. and an elf with glasses would look (RP).. umm.. silly.
If you are going to do them, then drop them, put them on again, clean them; break them ect...
enjoy

Also, in the early times monocles or other single-lens reading aids were more common than our modern permanent glasses.

Nero wore a monocle, and I guess that was long before the middle ages.

There were halfglasses worn in around 1500, mostly by monks, or the literate. Halfglasses being made of only halfround lenses, and they were pretty thick, considering they could not made the glass as thin as we can now.

You just need to use your google or wikipedia to find out such things.

Yes, but I think what he really wants to know is, if he is allowed to rp glasses/monocles ingame.
