Nobody replied to my suggestion, and i thought it was pretty good.

So hear goes
Sitadel wrote:I have some suggestions.

1. Sometimes (very rarely) you can become sick, and different diseases give different effects to the character and druids can make cures for the diseases, that will make druids more wanted...

2.Magic should include shape shifting, so you can become a creature and the creatures you can become are like only non *magic* (by magic i mean something that does not exist in real life) creatures. If you become a wolf you move faster and you get a specified attributes and you get another fighting skill, Wolf fighting. ( it doesen't have to be a wolf)

3. I also belive that to become a member of Illarion you have to do more then writing a story because sometimes there loggs in someone that talks ooc and freaks out when people don't talk ooc.

Well, i think that is all...
I would like to get an answer from someone this time.... please?

1.: How? When? What effects? How to cure?

2.: Shapechanging might be possible in a distant future. I don't see much use in it, though.

3.: What shall one do?

This is my answer. Sorry, your suggestions lack details to call them useful. Please use a proper subject next time.

1.) I disagree. People seem to think that the way to get more kinds of people in game (druids, warriors, etc.), yet another problem has to be presented to the average joe...in this case, disease...but that won't help. I think there should be a wider range of players around before that's implemented.

2.) Same as Estralis' response.

3.) Not sure what else can be done.

3( My idea is this... give the guy a trial period in which...

1) he can learn about how to play
2) He can learn to RP
3) He can get an idea of what he wants to become

Skills shouldn't exist... and he should be marked TRIAL:

After a few days... the Gms decide to let him in.. or kick him out

Every day, we receive 10-30 application, to name a rough number. We cannot handle the workload to watch every player in his first days. Having some kind of "I just want to check out the game without writing a long story first"-possibility would be nice, if anyone has a simple solution for this, contact me. I had a quick and dirty idea but it was declined in favor of a real solution (for what I am still waiting).

I came to Illarion at the age of 22 with 10 years of roleplaying experience under my belt. Now, I was rather overjoyed to find Illarion and was willing to go through the testing and the wait (which was considerabley longer back then) and even went through Moonsilver, the Chronicle, the rules, the name rules, and much of the board. However, I would feel insulted if, on top of all that, I had to go through a trial period as well.

On top of this, we can't watch you all 24/7, which means that even passing the trial doesn't mean you're a wonderful rper. It could mean you didn't spend much time ingame or we didn't notice you.

My personal opinion, and I'm not the only one who feels this way:
  • No account system. You set up a name and password, and blampf, you're in.
  • On top of Gamemasters, all staff members and a certain amount of the player-helpers are made Moderators. Moderators have the ability to change the name of characters ingame as well as ban players ingame.
  • Strict "three strikes you're out" policy. Two times you're explained what you're doing wrong, how to improve, and encouraged in that direction. Afterwards, you're gone.
There are some among our community that believe that just seeing a rule being broken will ruin rp on the longterm, and as such they don't want to see a system like this. I feel that that's taking this whole thing too seriously. As someone who has done tabletop for many years, it's quite regular that a player does something OOC, and they get warned and we pretend it never happened. Why is this not possible in Illarion?

This is, of course, a difference in view based on a belief on what roleplaying is. Some see it as full immersion while others see it as just that--playing a role.

If there is going to be this system, then it would require a hell of alot more 'moderators.' I volunteer, as always. Also, I do agree. Story telling doesnt mean you can RP. Im sure alot of people get revoked becuase they cant write a story.

Besides the point, I'll put this blunty. The joy of the game I felt in the old server has died. At the rate I feel the game going It would be wise to try and get some fresh blood in it. Besides, as you can see the system isnt perfect in the first place. <Some player name that starts with W> got in.

I belive that we need to make many people moderators. There should be a huge diffrence between moderators and gm's.

A moderater can see someone and report them to a gm, and if many moderators report someone there should be a message for them when they logg in that says "Please check your account page at Illarion.org", and on their account page there will be a message from a gm with game logs and the gm will be able to show the player what he did wrong. And if he keeps up then he gets banned. If a player gets contacted by a gm three times, then he is out. But in some cases the gm can judge if he needs to be thrown out directly after one charge or if he is to remain in the game after three.

Please comment on this gamemasters and players.

Perhaps it would be possible if you added a few dedicated, yet not too active (*coughcoughhinthint*) RPers here and gave them the ability to kind of monitor the goings-on of the people on a trial basis.

Why do I have the feeling some people enjoy to gain some sort of power within this game by any means?

Oh well, could just be me.

I must say however, I kind of like this idea. Moderators must be selected carefully ofcourse, but aside from that, I think it COULD in essence work. I am for this kind of suggestion.

Oh, they didn't comment after a few posts, what a horrific lack of attention!

Moderators may be a good idea, but they must be carefully selected. I can honestly say that I wouldn't trust the average player to moderate themselves, let alone other players.

Well, we already have a truckload of player-helpers. When I referred to them, I meant the ones already on the staff.

Consider it this way.

There are five GMs.

There are, amazingly, six people on my map-editing staff, not even including myself.

There are a handful of testers.

There are five or so regularly active developers not including my staff.

That, alone, is quite a bit of people, and many of them have GM characters in one form or another (on the test server, or one on the real server to help with development issues).

Now, not each of those people would get a moderator character if we were to go ahead with this, but this is only half of the staff and player-helpers once we're all counted up.

I think every player that gm's trust should be moderators, and maybe 1 moderator can always be online (exept dead times) so they can report things.

RE: moderators... can't we have a [REPORT] button on the client (when the new one arrives) and use that to report players.. instead of having to email it?

I don't think we need carefully chosen people; anyone who can proved they can RP; should be allowed to help

RE: trial : I still remember the person ((What do we do here?)) i tried to help but... THis game is too hard, I'm off to play ********

As for a trial.. just maybe an island? or a section of the Tserver?

"[Report]-Button" !? Did you forgot that you have the !gm command ?
So, taking this into account, you all are already "moderators".

I heavily dislike the idea of Trail LogIns.
Of course they hold a huge advertisment value by allowing players to take a sneak peak into the game without the need of a full account application, maybe just a name-check.

This would practicly blast us back into Illarion-Stone age, back into the time when I was "playing" in the "Welcoming Comitee of Trollsbane".
Only 1 of 10 arrivals was even willing to roleplay with us.

Most of the time the first few words of Newcomers were:
"F**k off!"
"ROTFL U spek soo gay !"
"Fre itans ?" (;))
"I want to kill stuff and peeps, where to go ?"

Illarion somehow offers shelter for roleplayers, allowing Trail-LogIns would take this "feature" from the game and again expose us all to the kids out there.

Of course, dirty and quick solution would be a (/another) Newbie- or Trail-Island.
Still I belive that we would create a sub-culture there, something "Non-Illarion" like, something that might remind more of Tibias-Rookgaard (player wise).

And would not exactly this turn away the target group of Illarion ?

Yes, then the wonderful account system got rid of those bad nasty evil people. Then after that there was a quest involving legal powergaming and acquiring a castle, and disabling the games features for three months, causing half the player base to leave. Now a map 8 times too big and yawnful roleplay leaving 0-10 players on normally. Talk about THUROUGH, thanks guys.

Yay to the target group, obnoxious judgemental people who need to be sheltered from the corruption of outside gaming and "bad" roleplayers!

If you wish to play in a non-selective community there are plenty of other games out there that will satisfy your needs Fooser. ;)

But all the other things you named have nothing to do with account system and/or trail accounts.

And no need to insult a whole community that decided to undergo a simple reading test.
Thank you. :)

I must concur, the roleplay has, in mine and other's opinions been lacking a little. I do not feel the need to add roleplay anymore, because I have the odd feeling no one would really care for something as such.

What's the point of a selective community if the roleplay and interaction is more rewarding in a non-selective one?

Actually I have gone to many others places and have found it quite interesting. People make it seem like other games are 95% "OMG LOLWTF", but in fact, for every one of those people, there are 3 or 4 that are reasonable, like some people here, minus the egos.

I really don't understand people here, one group says "NEED MORE PLAYERS, NEED MORE PLAYERS", then they support something that does the opposite. Illarion is stuck in a paradox.

Would it be better if the group said WE NEED GOOD PLAYERS?

No use having a community which gets banned...

PS: i don't agree with the story... some are too hard.. the lizard one my friend was complaning about.. per esempio...

OK thats true.. but unless they change their idea of what RP means... a bad community turns the others bad.

I was playing another MMORPG, and everyone attempts to skill up instead of RPing.. I attempt to RP. nothing works..

Immagien a hoarde of new people...you'r new you see this guy who';s also new...

"You new?"
"Yes"
"Ok lets go explore things together"

THen its downhill; RP falls to pieces because the few people who actually RP... can't cope.

I think Illarion is full or rpers now, at least in the illarion sense. We do want more players, but even if they are "n00bs", we can teach them. We shouldn't try and look for a standard of the "miraculous" rp. Instead, I want diversity and there is that in illarion. People just don't notice because they are too busy focusing on other things.

I agree, my point was this...: there must always be more RPers online than newbies.. otherwise the newbies being more will start a new 'trend'

That was it,..
