Cost of potions at npc's

Post by Galim »

please lower the prices, the current ones are ridiculos. we players need alot of potions when playing fighterhcars, especially at such killer quests like the spider or dragonquest. but Kl'urk just payed 800 coppers for 20 antidotes!!! Thats maybe enough for 5 spiders. that is far too much for something needed so strongly. Kl'urk can't afford it, and me as player won't pay it. for that 800 copper i worked hard and made alot of stupid nonfun gaming when killing critters.

thats anything else than fun, so please change them to something lower.

The prices will change. In fact, potions will become more expensive, but you will be able to earn more money in future. I think the key problem is not the price but the lack of druids.

we have many druids, we have just no working druidsystem. and it will still need alot of time until we get it, as far as i know.

until that, please lower the prices. we can't "live" with the current ones. they are too high. but our fighters will die without them when they fight again spiders or dragons. thats really no fun when you pay all your money just to be able to kill 5 out of 16 spiders. that the amount we had in the last spiderattack. it took me 25 potions to kill 8. that are 1000 copper!!!

Nah, no problem with the price of the healing potions. That keeps people from carrying >30 potions with them and using them while fighting PvP.

However, it would be nice if the price for the antidots would lower. They are more important, especially since one single antidot never heals your poision (from spiders for example.)

i never spoke of pvp, but you can't miss them in fights against dragons and spiders. and you need them alot when the town is again growded by them.

is it okay to be poor or dead just because some idiots use the potions in pvp fights? without having the potions everyone in the town would have died multiple times in the last spiderquest, it would have been much more terrible than it was.

if you worrie so much about pvp, than perhaps the scripters should change the use of potions.

And aristeaus, for having them special they are too important and too much needed against the critters the gms send after you. It is NOT good when just rich characters like salathe can afford potions and not so rich ones have to die when the next spiders or dragons appear. Thats not fair, because that promotes and rewards powergaming and moneyhunting, and not rp.

IMO it gives incentive for pure fighters to actually earn some coin. When i played a char of mine he spent all his saving on 20 potions. Which in turn i treasured. In time there will be druids, but until these secrets are unlocked im sure you can survive with your loaf of bread and a bun.

i used alone 20 potions in the last gm quest. and 25 antidotes. not much fun lad. it is not fun to use all the money for potions because you would die without them.

dont you understand? they are no luxus, they are life-necessary.

you have potions, or you die. you powergame and earn money like an idiot, or you die. you play a fightercharacter who just want to earn much and more money, or you die.

Thats not right. That means be a rich fighter instead of one who don't care much for money, or you are fucked.

But you may remember in the old client when the GM's had to send 9999 creatures to kill a single character, as all the characters carried 60 potions and another 9999 in thier depot, which just made the said player immortal, guzzling away till his heart is content, i would suffer from organised small creature attacks, then stupidly large invasions which ruin all aspects.

Now you have to struggle to survive yes. But im sure when a creature attack does happen within the town there is a GM watching in the back ground making sure matters do not get out of hand. The thing is matey people do suffer and get hurt, hence the attacks, if it was meant to be a show where fighters show off how many demons they could hold of with thier little finger, im sure a fashion show would be created.

LOL? you make a joke. in the last spiderquest the gm send 16 or more spiders against us, they were overall in the town, even in the second floors of buildings. and just Kl'urk was there as a fighter. without my potions i wouldn't have been able to kill enough of them to make town safe. without him the whole town would have died more than one or two times.

There was no GM watching over us, it was a whole killing spree and peoples died two, three times while laying in the inn and playing hurt ones.

The town was a death zone.

If potions were cheap Kl'urk would have eaten the spiders, cleaned his teeth within thier entrails, then held a spider gut barbique for the town people.. People got hurt!! Unlike the old client, wheres no one ever got hurt.

No, with the potions Kl'urk would have killed them under great danger and much damage like it was because even with potions a spider can kill you very fast. i used that much potions and Kl'urk was a few times near death.

With cheap potions you would have had an easy time, and you would not remember the moment, it would just be another easy night on the client with no challange, but now you remember the night being hard work, and a true mission to survive. Aristeaus had to visit the cross a few times that night, i know i remember it.

No, I and much more remember the night as a huge hill of shit because noone of us liked the quest, it was just a huge massdieing. Aristeaus, I fear you don't know about what you are speaking there.

and by the way, I never said potions should cost 5 copper. but 40 is too much, make them again 20. That was a good price.

Come Galim no need for the language, we all have our own views, that is the point of a discussion is it not. I voice mine, you voice yours. I personally enjoyed the night, and i personally think the potions should be the same price or else the challange of the game shall dissapear.

The spiderquest is not the topic here though.
I think the responsible GM already considered that were a way too much spiders on that certain event for the little player amount (without warriors) we were.

I like it also that the potions are something special nowadays.

I must agree with Gwynnether, and, come on, I have the feeling PO Galim wants his character to gush down a thousand potions p.m (per minute, for those of you who do not know). This is unhealthy, and the developers felt sorry for the poor characters. Live with it.

No I don't want to do that. But I don't want to give all my money for a few potions. The last time klurk got poisoned by a spider i had to drink 6 antidotes to get rid of the posion. that are 240 copper. so you have to chances, fight for hours critters and collect money, or die the next time a spider comes.

and just that you know, i never use potions in pvp fights. and i never have thousand of potions. I don't have more than 25-30 antidotes and healing potions at the same time. and i just buy new ones when those are used up.

25-30 antidotes and healing potions
Maybe I am just odd here, but those are a lot of potions in my opinion. Maybe I should play l337 warriors more.

What's the difference between using potions in pvp fights and using potions in monster fights?

There is none in my opinion. Masspotioning your character is bad. Period.

Maybe I am just odd here,
*coughs* no further comment :P

Since when do you play chars who need any skills?

that potion amount is the amount of potions you need to survive one fightintensive gm quest. sorry, but i dont play to have my characters die <_<. I am no SM-player

the difference is that its unfair for the other player. dont think its unfair for the npc-critter <_<. And normally I use the potions after the fights

Isn't it argued that it would be hard if not impossible to drink a potion while fighting? So why would it make it any difference with fighting a monster?

I've never used a potion, don't even know where they're sold, but hey, if only one/a fe npcs sell them, realisitically they will charge as high as people will buy for, so 40 copper is agreeable to me.

My suggestion:

Could we have a poision value for each potion? which increases with time..
So if you take an old potion, you will suffer some health loss, or a less effective healing.

More realistic and prevents people from mass-using potions, [also will have to be unstackable]
