Banner Contest

I like to invite you to our big banner contest. We are planning to promote Illarion with the next coming client update. Therefore we need a banner (468 x 60 pixels) about Illarion. Try to create one, be creative as never before. The format (jpg, png, gif, ...) is up to you. Feel free to create a static or an animated banner. Please send your banners to bannercontest@illarion.org, but please note that by sending you banner to this email address all copyrights at the banner goes to the Illarion society. Besides the honour for the winners we are thinking about raising the character limit for them. Let you surprise.
Now you have to go to work

Furthermore - for those who need more space for their creativity - I could need a 1024x768 picture about Illarion, a sort of background/promotion/desktop image - not just a client screenshot. Please send this one to imagecontest@illarion.org.

Ich möchte Dich zu unserem großen Banner-Wettbewerb einladen. Wir planen Illarion mit dem nächsten kommenden Client zu bewerben. Dafür benötigen wir ein Banner (468 x 60 Pixel) über Illarion. Bitte sende Dein Banner an bannercontest@illarion.org, aber sei Dir bewusst, dass mit dem Senden des Banners an diese Adresse alle Rechte daran an den Illarion e.V. über gehen. Neben der Ehre für die Gewinner überlegen wir momentan das Character-Limit für sie zu erhöhen. Lass' Dich überraschen.
Jetzt musst Du aber an die Arbeit

Desweiteren - für die, die mehr Platz für ihre Kreativität brauchen - bräuchte ich ein 1024x768 Bild über Illarion, eine Art Hintergrund-/Werbe-/Desktopbild - nicht nur einen Client Screenshot. Bitte sende dieses an imagecontest@illarion.org.
Es gelten die selben Regeln wie oben.

So, someone who could draw extraordinarely well, could create the sort of fanart you see at big MMORPGs for promotion? Not that we are going to be like those big businesses, just checking.

Just try your best. I'm not sure what I could await from you. I'll put the best ones for a voting online.

What font was used for the original Illarion logo? (The one with the people all standing above the word "Illarion" in that black box)

Hmm.. This sounds great! I love making banners! I'll make a nice flash one if i learn how to use that beast. Most likley a gif tho.

Wäääh,it's unfair Why does this contest have to be right after school started again? I would have needed it at the beginning of August,then I'd have sent in at least 3 by now^^° But...no time.Not at all.Hope I can do one at the weekend,if at all >_>

I am not able to design banners, but i want to show you something. The most ones may do not know, that long time ago Illarion had a banner:

Old Banner

It can still be found at the homepage of the Grey Rose. Maybe it is the last one - An artifact of the time of the 1. server, when Bror was active here.

Oh, and maybe one day, someone should change the message on www.mud.de that contains news about Illarion, saying it is updated every week etc. That post there is many years old.

Draw something then, CG art is all too common, something accually drawn might make people think "that game looks unique, look at that banner!".

Yes, this was the first banner Illarion ever had.

We've already made a list of external sites who need to be updated. We'll start to update after the next client update. Afterwards you will know why.

The first sender of a banner was fooser915@... and the 1st sender of a desktop picture was cain_freemont@...

Some ideas for your banners/ pictures

• if naming a URL, use illarion.org (and write the i as small letter, otherwise it looks like a small L)
• if writing the name of the game (Illarion) use a font which draws the first letter different as the second and third letter. For the homepage title image I've used "Fiorne"

So far I've got 9 banners and 2 desktop images. Keep up the great work!

I'm afraid I can't do it in time...

First becuase I don't even have time^^
And second,the idea I have will take a shitload of time,but the result shall be awesome! So,even if the contest is finished,I'll finish it and post it here then,where you can cry it hasn't been chosed xD Just kidding~
