I don't know who will do it, but some of the child chars I was talking to earlier on where all saying they wished there was a school for them and I thought this was a good idea, and was wondering if anyone would be interested in running it, and what child chars bar, Emily and Will ((my son! yay!)) would be interested.

I don't think there was much school in the medievil times. when then just privat teachers for rich children. and dont forget, starting characters are 14. that was an adult in the medievil times.

I'm with Galim on this one. I still think the library should be destroyed by a meteor or something, the printing press wasn't even invented yet!

Indeed down with the library.

Maybe the books were handwritten by monks.

Moneky monks?

Nut yes, monks did write out copies of the bible, and educated people could thus write their own books as well, maybe that's what the library is full of.

A lot of characters rp writing many of us leave notes on the forum.
To my knowledge miedeval times did not have ogers and mummies, elves were a little unsual to. Lizards may have been around but it was apparently pronounced leper :P
I mean how can we be so hung up on realism and then logg in to play our orcs and elves ?

The printing press and universities had been around for hundreds of years in China by the time the medieval ages started in Europe. Just something to think about since some of you are making it sound like schools and books are some high technology unique to the 21st century.

Any ways I agree with Pendar. Sacrificing fantastical fun for the sake of misguided realism is counter productive to roleplay.

Yes! I put his in here instead of Guilds or RPG because I don't want to run it, it wasjust an idea for if anyone else wanted to follow it up.....

Anyway the lessons would be more like tailoring, sword skills, fishing and the like more than english or whatever....

just make is a freaking military school, have callith teach. He is like the perfect person for the job. He wont let the children act like litte shits and he will teach them about everything they need to know. PLuse most want to know how to fight anyways. The ones that dont can have another teacher, most likely damien due to him bieng the elven elder and wisest on the isle; he would teach like finer arts and other stuffs

I just want to tell you that Emily doesn't act like a "little shit" anyways. True everyone does want to learn to fight but it's not really something you can be taught. It would be more interesting to learn to craft and cook and so on. :P I am all for this and would be willing to pitch in ideas.

The peoples of Illarion are already super-smart despite their lack of intelligence. Extensive knowlage of government, politics, philosophy, and trade seem to come naturally to everyone. It seems people are even born able to read and write two languages even. Sounds more like misguided fantasticism. I wonder how many characters even have average intelligence. If this were a private school which charged a good bit of money per pupil, I would say it was a good idea. Oh also, you'd spend your whole life learning these things to not even have people pay for you to teach their children it? HAH, not a chance, you have to eat to. (Or do people in Illarion have to eat even?)

I admit to this. Every time i start a new character i try to make him see as a stranger to this isle, but it fails. Every time. I must put in my 2 sence and bring up a comment only PO me would know about.
I wonder how many characters even have average intelligence.

What about the orphans? 9/10 children IG have no family.

Your right. This is hard to see in the future, but my in due time we shall see.

Omgz the apples are sooo frucking tastey =DDD

He has some points.

Schools were around during roman times...

2) Once the thingy is implemented that you have to watch someone before you can do it, schools would be useful

3) Till now, RP schools... better than leavign orphans running

Yes, she does mean attributes.

I'm not saying there weren't schools, but not public schools for peasants and slaves.

Is this your opinion, or your character's? Most orphans in medieval times would not have survived. If your character wants to be a teacher, take an apprentice! Oh you don't have any skills, then what would you teach? Only rich people would be taught of politics and higher studies via tutors. Play a tutor and try to have someone hire you! Oh theres no rich people with children, then how the hell is everyone so smart? I can't stop you from making a school, but I just wonder if its the characters trying to make it not the players (if that makes any sense).

If im not banned in the next 12 hours, when my ban is lifted, my next normal character will be a tutor.

My point exactly, its ok for elves to be smart [which are 101 years old +].. but come on.. orphans discussing adult things?

(My non elf char goes aroudn sniffing people)
