There seems to be a trend at the moment.

And that trend seems to be killing off ones characters.

Over the past couple of weeks, people have been dieing left right and centre, and I personally think its getting a bit out of hand. The rpg board is filled with posts about so and so dieing.

Recently there has been the death of:

Stephen
Arynne
Misjbar
Mortanyia
Stephanie
Olar
Thalodos
Capus?

Its just getting silly, every other day someone new dies, I know its thier right to kill of thier characters and death was very common in medieval times, but I mean, isnt the dieing getting a little bit excessive lately.

Well, a Lich is trying to take over the island and put his evil schemes in motion, there's all sorts of monsters on the island, and the entire place is basically one big death trap. In all honesty, I'd expect to see people die a lot more.

maybe you didnt notice the lich trying to summon MOSHRAN and take over the island =D

But yes :/ if killing characters becomes common it wont be as emotional,, but at a different point if the character wasnt known and killed poeple would really care.. So the death of a long standing char will still be felt more than a char which is killed within a week.

Everyone is killing themselves in sorrow over Arynne's death, who was really killing herself in sorrow over Galim's death.

Er, yes. On a serious note, I think the deaths are expected, although a few of them (not mentionting any in particular) seemed a little... sudden and unbelievable. But for the most part, with the lich and the serial killer... Yes, it makes sense.

Oh COME ON! Everyone's suiciding here... how long will it last? Just make a rule that you don't revive later...

I mean if you hate your char that much to kill him, then thats it.. dont be reborn

I would just like to take this opportunity to say that having characters come back from teh dead is the stupidest thing I can think of to do save run around screaming about suicide (ahem). For those of us that actually permanantly kill our perm-killed characters, it is very annoying to see the rest of you dramatize your death like there's no tomorrow (which there shouldn't be) and then, voila! Good as new. -.- Seriously, cut it out.

Characters who officially permadie get banned, and are only unbanned with a good quest to revive them.

Thalodos is dead? Didn't I roleplayed with him yesterday? and Mortanyia? WHY AM I searching her the whole day?

No. Capz0r isnt dead. Just that im deciding what to do now.

See, im afriad to continue this notion as a few players might bitch about "torture."

And if i simply drop the RP then a few players might bitch about how bad an RPer i am becuase i simply said "forget it"

Getting worried now. What do you mean when you say perma-dead characters are to be banned .
I killed off two of my characters and because they were dead I deleted them. I don't like the idea of a big "oh no he's dead, weep, weep, mourn" only to see the same person walking around happy as can be the next day. Have I commited a bannable offence?

No no. He means people who permkilled their characters, but did not delete them. Then a GM deletes them.

This makes dying in game really confusing. I know perm-death is when your char dies and you decide it will be a permanent death, but if you are killed in game by another player then when you ressurect is that person still a murderer? Since he never perm killed you it doesn't really seem like murder.

I've always wondered about that too, but I've finaly come up with an Idea that suites me. When a Character dies from Ctrl+Click the gods are willing to put him back. They say it is not his time, but when he perm dies it is kind of saying the gods wont let him go back.

I think of it as severe wounding rather than death. Where your soul separates but you are able to go back to the body. Kinda weird if you think about it.
