Need a war for interesting game

May be I'm not right, but I'll tell you some ideas which on my opinion, could made a game more interesting. We all leave in peace. Scandals happends betveen 2-4 people only. It's not interesting. We need a real war. We need a strong enemy and something what we can stand for. Something like a war between dwarves and goblins or elves and other beasts. For example, some hordes of a strong enemies sometimes can attack a Troll's Bane. That would be a real war where we could use our skills and tactics. You can tell, that we have enemies, which sometimes attack. It's not that I mean. It's a lonley good/evil heroes. But we need a real army against what we can fight. What do you think? Please, don't tell that I'm fan of killing. No, I'm not. But it's a medieval fantasy game. And what happends in those times? Wars! So, we need a good war to made a game interesting.

Someone should play more....
Wars are not the answer. Just more people getting more involved in more RP.
This game is what we the players make it. If you sit around waiting for things to happen you are wasting the game. Start your own plots. Start your own war.
Or get involved in the plots that GM's are running. From what I heard IG last night there is a war brewing anyway. But dont rely solely on GM's to provide the 'things to do'. Use your imagination and start your own plots. If you need GM help to do so ask them and see what they say.

Wars between realms are a matter of ingame events; if you want a war, well, start one. We had wars between Northerot and Silverbrand (and some minor allies

), the problem was that one cannot have a battle with 3 chars on both side. Thus, most battles are between PCs and NPCs. And trust me, there will be many, many more monsters to get killed by soon.

You'll have the war soon.. the knighthood of Kallahorn and the synode are going to start fighting soon...
Misjbar ordered their destruction... but its not a large war, just more of assassinations i beleive...
Want a war? make a guild with crazy ideas, and pick on everyone else...

Hope i'll be helping....
We do need a proper war... but there isn't enough balance
The game is dripping with elves... and lacking dwarves.. so no traditional punch up...
We need more extremists like Misbjar...

Whereas i agree with this, i would also say that it is very hard for any new or fairly new players to start something as big an rp event as a war (did that make sense?). I've seen many try it, but most are shot down by the numerous other 'Hero' characters inhabiting the streets of illarion.
If some players could occasionally act 'fearful' instead of 'brave and courageous' for once then maybe more events like this would be possible.
Anyway, i look forward to these new things to be killed by. should be fun

Firstly Gabon,
In the name of fun I have to point out that....
Berengar, Georgius,Julius,Bailey,Kamik,Devrah,Pendar,Culandria,Callith
Kl'urk "who i would hire" not to mention Ladir and more I could enlist.
Would pwn you peeps
Trollsbane remains the military force and dont you forget it lol.
That said problem with wars is simple we are not all on at the same time.
What tends to happen is a few battels and then a lot of PKing as some players wage there war on a town or group when the actual warriors are not around. The logistics of rping a war are horrific and there will always be some players who use it as an excuse to try and stamp on other peoples rp. Particularly those who dont play for pvp conflict at all.
The game will continiously gain spice as things progress, if you dont believe there are villans emergeing at the moment. Look for maeve and see if you can track what happend to her back to a source. Villans are operational you just dont always see them until it is to late.

Concerning Greenbriar, it will be made an outpost of the Knighthood in a few months.

Why would you come to Greenbriar? You like leaning over in buildings? Besides, we know a trick or two. Even if Zachariah doesn't play much anymore...

I am sure that your love woul stand by your side and i would let you have Ladir just to keep things fair. As i called upon my more fiercesome servants the dark lord Farel, the warlord i keep in my bed knowen as fooser.
Oh yes evil rides on my shoulder Boi!
You will need greenbriar it will give you some place to sleep when i claim your castle for my own soon as you get your finger out and actually build it.
Why would you come to Greenbriar?
The small buildings prop up stephens ego ?
Okay i am going to go and hide before stephen logs on and pwns pends with out taking a scratch and takes trollsbane for his own....again

With the actual dying system (run to cross and come back immediately) wars are senseless and often end up in lots of accusations about bad rp (and lots of bad rp too).
No PvP-Wars.

What about giving us another island to PVP on.. with no cross, and instant teleport back to the normal one; when we die?
Posted: Mon Aug 08, 2005 11:37 pm
by Garett Gwenour
That would make little sense ingame you realize ...

Teleport to another island, where it was destroyed by war... just go there and fight..
Or else make it the otherworld... between two gods... moshran and umm... Zhambra? Sirani?

So every time a "war" breaks out, each party agrees to fight in a forgein country ?
Why fight in country X when I want to dominate Trollsbane ?
Makes little sense.
Or a heavenly interception beams every combatant (however recognized) suddenly somewhere else ?
Why should they be intressted in the querrels of the mere mortals ?
If you want to test this, try to get the next fights happen on the "Sirani Islands".
A place without cross and a long travel to the next one.

Yeah ... Still doesn't make sense ... You can PvP on Gobaith, but it does get old fast. The Northerot wars lasted way to long. It would be best to arrange a time and place to have all armies meet, whoever wins the best of .. 3 battles wins the war or something similiar. Otherwise like Damien said, it gets to OOC bitchfest.

I was thinking more like the war is FOR the foreign country... whoever wins it , claims it...
But then it would be pointless, just like normal wars today...
It would be ironic to kill there...

No PvP-Wars.
I have seen some good examples of PVP war/skirmish. The day the town guard marched down to save Eliza on the old server.
How ever they should be spontaniouse and come from ingame events unforced. If a character can rise to a position in game were he can create the neccesary conditions to make such a war, all good and well.
How ever trying to force one or orchestrate one on a "island wide" scale would be foolish.
Battles between factions and groups will happen eventually, it is inevitable. Yet as Damian wisely says more players who partake more unhappy players there will be.
Certainly if ever a battle of any large scale happend in game again...not returning from cross would be a point players would have to adhere to. Been a problem in past and will be again.

Bloodskulls attacking the Grey Rose castle and being slaughtered was a good battle.

Personally, it always kind of bothered me that the town guard fought all the battles for Trollsbane. They're the town guard. We didn't send policemen to Iraq, nor the Coast Guard. There always needs to be a unit defending the homefront while the military is sent out to war.
This makes wars more difficult to have, but it seems to me it should be so.
And I don't mean to just point the finger at the town guard, but they seemed the easiest target to pin this on. Honestly, all parties are guilty.
