Aokan awakes from his deep sleep and slowly lifts himself out of the inn's bed. Cradling his left arm, he makes his way to the other room and sees the buckled floor. As he walks to the square he realizes the town's overgrown mazes has gotten more complex. Few people walk amoung the city, some who seem to not know of the formal evacuation and walk like dead, and others who are totally defiant of the announcment. As sits on a tree and rests a small familar voice calls for him. He sees the small girl name Rhiannon shout through his bruised eyes. He tells her of his duties and he must stay in town. She decides to wait it out with him, and after going through his usual warnings, they begin to scavenge.
With enough food to last a few solid days they head for the inn. He looks to the room with the bed crushed by a rock and closes its doors. He tells the small girl to use this room. Aokan lays down a small leather hide in a fashion that resembles a makeshift bed. After the small girl heads up the ladder, Aokan stands and walks to the inn's double doors. He looks out to the town's overgrowth and shuts the doors one at a time.

Rhiannon goes up the ladder and sits at the table to read a book. For once, she can't concentrate on the book, losing herself in it as she usually does. Instead, she stares out the window across from her seat at the table, looking at the looming shapes of overgrown trees and hedges. As she stares out the window, she thinks about a lot of things. She thinks about how the overgrown trees are trapping everyone in or out of town; she thinks about the broken-down jail, where her brother Guider no longer sits, having escaped through a weakened wall most likely. She thinks about pirates and Gerard, and right and wrong. She thinks about Stephanie, who kills for money, and Naybet, who told her that she should find a way to fight evil without weapons. She thinks about her family, her past, thinks about the many old bruises that even still mar her pale skin underneath all her clothing and armor; the bruises that had taken years to accumulate and would probably take just as long to fade. She thinks about the few friends she has made, and tries to make sense of who is a 'good guy' and who is a 'bad guy'. She begins to think that maybe it is not so easy to decide. Some people do not show who they really are on the inside, and some people are in the middle.
The far-off sound of the front door of the inn closing makes her jump and breaks her train of thought. She smiles slightly, hearing Aokan walk back to the room downstairs. 'I'm glad I have a new brother', she whispers to herself, 'I just hope that he can stay safe.'
Rhiannon sighs a bit and opens her book again.

The girl called Alica walks up and into town not noticing the trees and hedges growing as she walks, she soon finds herself trapped inside by newly sproted trees wich blocks the entrance where she just entered through. She walks around lost and find what is supposed to be the library but is overgrown and falling apart.
The tree's starts to get agressive and tries to hit her with their branches as she walks by, and the hedges creeping up on her from behind trying to swallow her in the djungle once called town. She runs away past the workshop and towards the inn. She comes up to the two sealed doors and tries to open them but they are locked from the inside. She knocks hard on the door to see if there is anyone inside, with the hedges and trees growing closer and closer towards her.....

Later that night, Rhiannon lies awake, staring at the ceiling and listening to Aokan's deep breathing from the floor nearby. As she stares up at the ceiling, a pale beam of moonlight enters through the window and lights up her small pale face. In bed, without her armor on, the neckline of Rhiannon's shirt slips a little bit, revealing a small shoulder laced with bruises that loook like dark shapes in the moonlight. She slowly sits up and checks to be sure Aokan is asleep; then she lifts the hem of her shirt up about six inches and looks down at her skinny midriff. The skin is mottled black and blue even in the moonlight. She is painfully thin; the ribs stick out far more than they ought. An odd shadow follows one rib, lower down. It is oddly shaped and bent, as though it has been broken several times. The tail end of a long scar can be seen tracing its way from somewhere further up her body to end just above the waist of her trousers. Rhiannon runs a finger down the scar, and a single tear falls from her eye to land on the covers. 'I'll never be pretty' she whispers, 'No matter what Pendar says. Not even the lady he mentioned can fix this mess' . Rhiannon stares down at her thin stomach a moment more. In the silvery moonlight it is clear this damage, these bruises and this painful lack of anything but skin and bones on her frame is due to years of abuse and neglect. Rhiannon sighs and rolls her shirt back down and lies down again, pulling the covers all the way up to her chin, as though trying to hide her body in shame. She stares up at the ceiling once more, as dawn creeps closer and the moonlight fades away. As morning approaches and Rhiannon spends a second night without any sleep, she thinks about Pendar Fayed, and what she had told him, about her brother and her parents, about her grandmother, and who she was. She wonders if he meant it when he said she had the heart of a guard already, and that she was not ugly after all.
At last, as the first beam of sunlight comes in the window, Rhiannon drifts to sleep, tears gleaming in her dark lashes.

Alica walks around downstairs unable to sleep and looks through the books downstairs. She dont find anything interesting, and with the unpatient nature of hers she sneaks up to check on Aokan and Rhiannon just so some plant eats them.
As she walks quietly up the stairs she notices the door to Rhi and Aokans room are open. She takes a peek into the room and notices that Rhi is awake. She notices how thin she really is.
After a little while she walks up to the third floor and founds what she seeks for.. The library of the inn. She takes out a pile of books and lights a candle and quickly puts it on a safe distance as if she was afraid of the fire. She reads a book of smithing to see if there is any clue of how to smith armor. She then thinks about her past and sheds a tear then feels her chest just to feel the scarred skin....

Joshua sits in a tall prospering tree, munching on a plump specimen of apple.
"you trees *munch* are so fabulous!"
To his amusment, the apples turn a bit darker shade of red.
He puts out a sigh of pleasure and relief as he slumps down, combing his hair.
"There is nothing better then you guys! How can one be so skilled in the art of hospitality!"
For each day Joshua sat there, eating apples and amusing the forest with his bombardment of compliments, and returning nurishment with water from the rivers and ponds to the evergrowing roots.
His friendship with the trees grew stronger be each passing moment
"Stay here forever trees, and i will stay with you"
