Technical Error?

Hello

My account for Illarion was recently accepted by the staff, leaving me with two options:

  • -Create a new character
    -Add old Character
Since I never created the character Ryoga Ibiki before, I attempted to create a new character with this name. However, I get an error when I try to request this character: Charname already exists. Thinking I maybe decided to create a character with this name long ago, I clicked the "Add old Character" link and entered the username, along with a password I would of used (since I generally use 1 password for everything that has to do with Illarion). I get this: "Requested char could not be found. Please check name and password." Finally, I opened the Illarion client itself and entered the character name Ryoga Ibiki along with a password I would have used, and I get this: "No character with this name has been found!"

Could this be a technical error? A mess on my part? Perhaps someone already created a character with this name?

I would greatly appreciate some assistance. :D

Actually Galim, you're only half right.

Very well known names of characters taken from novels, games or films are not allowed

And I have never heard of this name. It is the decision of the GMs, not you.[/b]

oh, its just one of the most wellknown comics in japan and even in the rest of the world. Millions know that name!

Its from the comic Ranma 1/2. Believe me, the name IS wellknown, just because you don't know it means nothing.
and in the german rule it is "just" "Known names" not "well known names"

Now put a "H" infront of Ibiki and try again. I know, its not the same name, but just ONE letter is missing.

If it would be just the forname, or surname, okay, but both together.

Oh for crying out loud. If the GMs do not think the name is appropiate, they will reject it. Do these kind of discussions have to come up each time such a thread is opened?

Galim, it is the decision of the GMs. You are not a GM. End of discussion.

I just informed him that the name is not correct before he trys again.

oh, and it doesn't change anything that he was one of the staff before. now are other times, and a new begin, and everyone have to go through the name rule.

It isn't a matter of accepting the name. The name was created years ago and get through the acceptance.
It is a technical matter with the database like others had it too with there old chars.

One of the technical staff may have a look at it.

P.S.: I didn't know the comic figure, too.

I doubt no one but Galim would know from our tiny little community, so no harm is done.
I believe this measure was taken, so that we do not give the guy abilities/traits, that the "famous" person has too. And since only one of us knows this specific anime person.

Gah. It's good now.

Well, anyway:

If your password is longer then nine characters then just use the first nine of them. The old server did cut any passwords longer then that. Usually people just did not notice that because the password was cut when logging in as well.

Nah, I know that specific comic figure too.
I was actualy searching for this name as Ryoga posted his comment here and figured out, that he left out the "H" of the last name.
So I could exclude a name check as error source.

I expect everyone to avoid combining Ryoga's character with cold water, since it will turn him into a small pig. (According to the famous comic) ;)
