The counter at the bottom of the screen can be used to turn pages. Two on the counter and shift click book, will give you page two.
I dont have any characters that cook, so i cant be more help than that.

Perhaps this is a silly question then, but as a newbie, I guess I'll ask.
I can read the druid books, but I can't read the recipe books. If I can't read the recipe books.. what exactly should I be working on doing to become a better druid?

Druidry, as all magic, isn't implemented yet, so the reciepe books hae no effect. The other druid books are just for giving hints on how druidry works.
They shouldn't have any effect on your (technical) druid abilities.

As Adano said, it's not implemented at the moment.
But that aside, my tip would be to find a druid to initiate your character into druidry. That is something you could do already, despite that druidry is not implemented yet.

It's only as boring as you make it.
Cooking should work, for the biggest part, independantly from druidry. It has more to do with simple things, like getting the foodstuffs together and using the right tools and other items to cook. As I suggested under the quote above concerning druidry, best way to learn is to find a teacher in game. Experimenting to find out how it works is quite frankly a pain in the ass.
