I see people who look like my character yet, they never move, and never reply to anything I say, Are they NPCs? Or is my computer messed up?

If you hit F12, numbers will appear over player characters, but they will not appear over NPCs or monsters. Try asking them for "help" or just talking to them, they react to key words and key phrases.

Saying "Greetings" to any NPC (except the hostile ones) will normally result in a reply.

Oh, and if they don't react—maybe you're speaking the wrong language...

Unless what you're talking about is when there are multiples of the same character shown just standing there on the screen...that happend to me a lot. If that's what you're talking about, they go away if you go through a doorway or push yourself (Ctrl+click on yourself and drag)

it was an NPC...

One more question, I can't find any human players, and I'm kind of wondering, How do you read books? Shut doors?, and stuff like that such as mine. Also can you close and open doors?

• reading books: Shift-click on the book. The counter on the bottom of your screen allows you to select a specific page in the book.

• door use: Is not implemented in the client yet, you can't manipulate doors.

• things like mining, or whatnot, you either have to find out yourself or have someone tell you. Most oftenly, they have to do with holding shift on the keyboard, and then clicking on a tool, then another item (still holding shift pressed down). For example, "using" an axe on a tree.

The buttons F1- F5 might help you alot.

Right now there are three players online, including you. It's difficult to find someone at these times.

To read a book use (shift-click) the bookshalf, select a book and it will appear on the ground. then select the page you want to read in the counter in the lower middle of the screen and use the book.

Doors cannot be shut currently, at least most cannot. The few who can serve special functions, for example block areas which can only be accessed by certain groups (like the Silverbrand entrance).
